Question about Electrolux Central Vacuum
A newer model unit (withing 5-7 years) has a deadman switch inside. This means that if the filter is out of the machine or not in properly it will not start the motor until the filter is back in its proper place.
If it is an older model, what you can test is the low voltage lines coming into the unit. Where they go into the unit (usually red or black circular with the two "phone wires"), take a screwdriver and touch the two wires with the screwdriver. What you are looking for at this moment is either a "click" or the motor will start.
If the motor starts, great, now you have to trace the wiring and see where it went bad.
If the unit clicks, its possible it is your motor.
Either way, good luck.
