Question about Maxtor Hard Drive

1 Answer

Maxtor DiamondMax 21 80 giga

I have two desktop PCs with PIII inside (750 & 900 Mhz) and XP professional (RAM pc133), both fully functional and each other with a couple of small harddrives (15/20 giga). I bought a DiamondMax in order to substitute one of them that was damaged but I encountered several problems (almost the same in both computers).
After having disconnected the hard drives and replaced them with the new one, I realized that both PCs were not able to "see" it when putting the jumper in the right place as "master"; nor automatically, neither using the "hdd detection" in the BIOS... Curiously, after many attempts, I came over this problem adding another jumper in the far right position! But this was not the definitive solution because now the systems "see" the hard disk as he had a smaller size: exactly 33 giga (maybe because of some processor/motherboard limit or so on...).
Can you help me?
Thanks in anticipation.

My dot station has PC100 64mb RAM. Will it Support PC133 256mb RAM

hi normally if your system came with 100mhz ram that is all it will take as this has been specifically designed for that mhz of ram so i do not think that the 133mhz ram will work, all tho it is cheap enough to buy now, it might be worth giving it a try you will not damage anything doing so, but i think you will find that it will not work....hope this helps

Very slow boot

Bruce, the Dell OptiPlex GX260 normally will be equipped with a PC133 DDR1 128MB RAM module. It is recommended that you upgrade to higher memory bus DDR1 memory module, for example, 512MB/1GB DDR 1 running on 266 MHz to 533 MHz.

Hope this helps. Make sure u come back here if u still have further request.

I want to know if SDRAM and DDR@ are the same thing?

No SDRAM is single data ram, with 2 slots in the bottom and DDR is double data ram, with one slot at the bottom.

dont think you need a driver unless you are installing it in a raid ...the purpose of sata was to elliminate hdd jumpers and configuration ... just go into the bios and make sure the sata channels are enabled

I need a driver for xp professional Where can I download one. Model 6l080L0sn L25DEJEG

Windows XP should automatically detect the hard drive. There should be no reason for a driver, however software to format and backup your drive can be found at Maxtor. It is important to format the drive before it is used.
