You need to start by cleaning burner tube and pilot intake , sounds like spiders have probably spun a web in there. If flame is yellowish, it's not getting enough air. You can buy a barbecue burner brush, long and flexible, and run it through burner tube to clean out web, and if pilot is yellow as well, there is a small hole in side of fitting where it attaches up near burner that needs to be cleaned out with paper clip or even better, compressed air. After cleaning burner, adjust air shutter to get nice blue flame, with just a hint of yellow at tip. The idea there is to get blue flame, but not a roaring flame that is jumping off the burner. A spider web in there will usually allow propane through, but restricts air mixture, thus causing yellow flame (rich mixture) and soot to build up.

I have a new Atwood G6A-7 water heater. The pilot lights fine but gas flow, when it turns on, is so strong it will blow the pilot out. Certain times, it sounds and looks like a mini fire ball going

Clean burner tube with proper brush, such as long spring type for bar-b-Q burner tube that are available at most hardware stores, and make sure you have new burner tube aligned properly (straight on) with brass orifice on gas control. Then be sure to adjust air shutter for nice blue flame, with little orange at tip. Do not give so much air that flame roars or jumps off the end of the burner tube. Too many people think more air, less fuel, but actually, when flame roaring and jumping off end of tube, the heat passes through faster and it takes longer to heat the water inside the tank. Like I said, only enough air to have quiet, steady blue flame. If your not giving it enough air, you'll see dark soot on trailer above water heater, which indicates burning too rich, need more air, or perhaps pilot is partially plugged. Pilot flame should also be blue, not yellow/orange. Small air intake hole on side of fitting just before pilot tube can get spider web, or debris in it as well. Use air to blow that out or a piece of wire like a paper-clip to clean inside that hole.

Need to replace G6A-6E Atwood waterheater, what replacement model can I use?

Why not the same model/size? Atwood 6 gal, works on propane with electronic ignition. Or, you can get the 6 gallon with electronic ignition, and electric element as well provided you are willing to run hydro to water heater as well, if not already there. Check any RV parts site for prices and availability. Some places are out of stock currently. I assume your current tank is leaking?

My hot waterheater tryes to start then sputers and quits ,rest of gas equipment runs fine ?

Does it have the safety cut-off in wire to thermostat? Inside a plastic sleeve near pressure relief valve. If yes, remove it from the circuit temporarily and connect female spade from wire directly to thermostat where it was attached and try it. If it works, you need a new one of those. If not, get back to me.

I have an Atwood waterheater model # G6A-8E. I am having issues with no spark from the ignitor , I have used a long stem lighter to light the burner. It lights and burns well for a couple second seconds...

When you turn it on and hear the ignitor clicking, test for 12 volts at power wire to gas valve. If your not getting 12 VDC to gas valve when ignitor is sparking, replace module.

I have an Atwood hot water heater in a Bounder motorhome. When I turn on the switch to fire up the electronic ignition, it instantly blows the 12v fuse. An inspection of the unit shows wiring with melted...

My guess is that you may have or have had a spider web or other debris in burner tube that caused flame to back up, thus burning some wiring but, have someone experienced check it and clean it. The wiring if not burned too bad may be able to be repaired/spliced.

I HAVE A 10 GALLON ATWOOD WATER HEATER IN A PARK HOME THE PILOT LIHTS FINE AND STARTS THE GAS OK WATER IS NOT GETTING HOT IT LOOKS LIKE SOME OF THE FLAME IS COMING OUT OF THE HEAT TUBE GETTING CARBON ON...

I would definitely have the burner tube cleaned and adjusted if necessary. Sounds like a possible spider web in the tube, as well as have heat chamber blown out with compressed air if at all possible to remove soot build up. Stand back when blowing it out, or you"ll be covered in soot.
You can buy a long brush for cleaning barbecue burners, that work well.

Atwood gas waterheater with white rodgers gas valve pilot hard to light and not a big enough flame to touch the thermocouple

I think you need to reposition the thermocouple, or adjust the pilot gas pressure by adjusting the pilot screw make sure it is still the recommended gas pressure of the system... please contact a HVAC tech if this things did not work.

Atwood heater problems

The smell is from the (anode rod not sure of this term is exact) in the water hater. Smells like rotten eggs. You have to remove the rod in the top of the water heater. This will void the warranty of the heater. The soot is due to flame adjustment. this should be done by a professional.
