The sprocket is part of the outer clutch hub which means replace the outer hub by unscrewing the clutch 'guts' (CCW) from the crankshaft. The usual procedure is to fill the cylinder head and the upper section of the cylinder with small cord through the plug hole. Make sure the piston is near the top so that nothing goes into the transfer or exhaust ports. This should lock the engine enough to get the clutch off. This might be a job to farm out if you feel uncomfortable about the procedure. Don't use an impact wrench to take it off as that will generally shear the flywheel key. Hope this helps!

Open the right side of the saw enclosure where the chain screw adjuster is.After that you will see the screw, unscrew and thigh the chain forward but not too much just adjust and test by hand, tight the screw and do a start test.

Mcculloch MS 1415 electric chain saw throws chains

I had a saw that did that and found my blade the chain runs in was bent. Another problem was the groove the chain goes in had a gouge that did not look like much but was just enough to throw the chain. Also check the drive sprocket and make sure it lines up with the groove in the blade the chain runs in.I replaced the blade and its ok now.

Chain will not move with engine running. Brake is off

Try loosening the chain adjustment (bar) screw or locate and clear as needed any material found to be caught between the drive sprocket and chain.

My chain binds on the sprocket and will not turn. have replaced the chain

Remove the bar and chain and examine the sprocket teeth for excess wear or other damage. Make sure the chain 'pitch' (the distance between the drive teeth) matches the sprocket pitch. If the sprocket is badly damaged, the entire clutch should be replaced. Hope this helps!

Try the easy solution first and post back if this does not solve the problem:

Insure your chain is on the teeth of centrifugal clutch sprocket correctly. It is easy to have it either on the inside of the sprocket or on the outside of the sprocket. If it is not on the sprocket teeth, it will not turn the chain.

The chain on my Remington electric saw keeps jumping the sprocket. Solution? Thanks.

Depending to what model you have, the Sprocket cover tab (located on the round part of the sprocket cover) isn’t inserted into the saw body tab slot. Or your cahin is not tensioned properly. According to the manufacturer... "The adjusting block on the adjusting screw isn’t inserted into the adjusting hole on the guide bar. Reinstall and align the sprocket cover by first removing the sprocket cover from the saw. Turn tensioning screw on the sprocket cover counter-clockwise until it stops. Pull guide bar away from saw body to remove slack from chain. Insert sprocket cover tab into saw body tab slot and lower sprocket cover into guide bar bolt. Finger tighten guide bar nut onto guide bar bolt. Slowly push guide bar toward saw body until adjusting block on the adjusting screw drops into round adjusting hole on the guide bar. Securely tighten guide bar nut after properly tensioning saw chain." If these tips do not work, you may need a new chain. You can order an new chain on-line at www.masterparts.net. I hope this helps you!

Saw will not cut , chain stops turning when chain touches wood

If your saw has a removable sprocket, Check the drive sprocket on the clutch drum. Either the the spline is worn or the drive link on the chain is not properly seated in the sprocket well.
