Connect an external monitor that has an Apple monitor connector. See if you get video. If you do, your display is bad.

Mac book pro. Black screen cannot start but with boot sound

Have you tried connecting an external monitor.

A boot chime means the Mac has passed POST, that the screen remains black initially suggests there is a problem getting image to screen which could mean a bad cable to the LCD or the LCD display its self is having problems.

By connecting to an external display you verify the graphics on the logic board is functional, and it could get you up and running till the display problem is fixed.

Also try powering up and when you hear the chime, hold down the COMMAND+OPTION+P+R keys, and keep holding them till the machine has chimed 3 times, this will reset the 'BIOS' in case there is a glitch there stopping the display from showing up.

Mac book air to view sonic monitor & I can't find icons or anything just grey screen and mouse...anyone can help?

Hello,

Go to System Preference on your Mac which is a setting icon (Gear) then go to DISPLAYS > ARRANGEMENT >CHECK ON THE MIRROR DISPLAYS.

You can also set the monitor arrangement sideways or upside down.

Hope this helps.

I have a power book G4, it's about 4 years now, apparrently i can turn on the laptop but the screen just black out i cannot see anything on it what could the problems be? thank you

It could be the tube that lights the screen not working. best thing is to get it to a service centre.
You can use the mac by plugging in an external monitor to check that the mac itself is OK.
