SOURCE: MACKIE SWA1801--Sound quality is not same

Hi,
First, Try the "defective" woofer in the cabinet that works well to be sure the woofer is OK.
If the woofer sounds good in the other cab, look to the power amplifier board : you have to test 2 fuses and 2 transistors witch are connected to the fuses : a defective transistor let your subwoofer work fine to half power, but distortion appear if you push away...

How do you get to the ac fuse on the SWA1801 ?

There are 4 allen-head screws that hold the amplifier assembly in - two on top and two on bottom. Remove these and the entire thing slides out the back. There is one fuse near the power switch and two on the power supply board inside. Be sure to use the correct value.

How to change the hf unit?

a new diaphragm can be fitted into the original driver and the speaker will be like brand new. first you must determine if you have the older RCF version (M44TI) or the newer Mackie versions (0008093). There is only one RCF diaphragm that will work for this repair and they are scarce. There are both authentic and aftermarket Mackie diaphragm options and both work very well.

Willing to bet you've blown the amp, or fused the coil. I've had it happen twice, apparently when running off a power source that apparently couldn't handle the load. Hope it's under warranty - if so Loud Technologies (deals with all Mackies warranty stuff) should be able to replace the unit. Otherwise, you'll need to take it in to a service department and have it checked out.

Good luck, you'll have to arm wrestle with them to get them to replace it.
