Check your own remotes ! If you have an extra in a junk draw every time you open and close the draw you can possibly have something bump up against one of the buttons and with their sensitive buttons they can easily be triggered.....I had a customer that was happening to her . Another situation could be leaving a remote in a pocket or purse ...again these buttons don,t need much to send a signal to your opener without you even realizing it! Another situation I have seen is a neighbor having the same age machine as you ..the frequency transmitting signal has changed over the years because of interference from other remotes or microphone signals such as police radio,s ..ambulance...fire stations all use these frequencys , also local airports and private planes all transmit these signals ...even your neighbors remotes were a problem until they came up with rolling code technology , if you have this then you should not have any interference from any outside signals and you probably have a remte laying around that's getting bumped ! If you and a neighbor have similar machines from earlier then 1985 then you probably have a garage door opener with dip switch technology ....On the dip switch settings you have to set your own code but most people had them installed straight out of the box without any code changing and left the factory settings to 0....Well most likely your neighbor also did not change from the factory settings and that can be another scenario....These are all things I have seen as a garage door mechanic and could be possible scenario,s for troubleshooting your problem , Hope I was able to help you but if all else fails then definetly go with a new receiver kit because it would definetly have rolling code technology

Garage door opens by itself. Maybe neighbor has same code?

This is generally caused by a bad wall control or the wiring going to it. Make sure there are no staples cutting through the insulation. You can temporarily remove both of these possibilities by removing the wire at terminal #1 on the rear of the motor unit. You can then hook that wire back up and remove one of the wires from the back of the wall control.

HAVE SEARS/CHAMBERLAIN "91"MODEL 53615SR AND NEIGHBORS OPENER KEEPS OPENING OUR GARAGE DOOR BUT OUR OPENERS WONT OPEN HIS

Look at the LED light next to the SMART/LEARN button on rear of the motor unit. You may need to remove a light lens cover in order to see it. If the light is flashing rapidly this means you have a stuck button on one of your remote controls. Take the batteries out of each remote control. When you remove the batteries from the bad remote, the light will stop flashing. This remote needs to be replaced.

If one of your neighbors remote controls is inadvertently programmed into your receiver, you door will open when their remote is activated. If this happens you will need to clear out your receiver and reprogram your remote controls. Press and hold the smart/learn button for 6 seconds or until you see the small LED light near the button turn itself off. If the above steps have been followed and the symptoms continue, there may be an electronic short in either the wall control button or the receiver logic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires from terminals 1 and 2 on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persist after the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If the symptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motor unit, replace the wall control button, and the wires leading to the wall control button.

Six wire hook up and new thermostat has only 5

Some thermostats have an extra terminal for an outdoor sensor which tries to anticipate the need for heating or cooling. If this option is not present, you will have an unused terminal which may have a shorting link to a neighboring terminal. Your installation instructions should mention this if the option is or is not included with your model. Also, heat pump systems vary in the system control voltage and not all thermostats and systems are compatible with the more common split system thermostat.
