D-Link Wireless: validating identity

What do I need to do to validate? I don't even get a prompt for a password, it just goes straight to connecting then hangs on "Validating Identity"

No prompt for a password. And I've changed it manually. I'm setting up the system myself. I don't know what "validating" means.

I believe this has to do with your automatic router/setup for wireless networks....but this is what I did to clear the same problem:

1) Right click on the tray icon that is searching for validation and select status.

2) A "Wireless Network Connection Status" box will open, click "Properties".

3) Your "Wireless Connection Properties" box will open showing the Wireless Networks available. Find the wireless network you are connected to and highlight it by clicking once, then click "Properties" just below.

4) Another box will then open with the properties for your network. Click on the "Authentication" tab.

5) Un-check the "Enable IEEE 802.1x Authentication...." checkbox.

You're good to go.... :)

Validation can mean to declare or make legally valid or to prove valid or confirm the validity of data, information, or processes:

Thanks, worked immediately.

But on my system I also had to un-check a statement about getting information stored on the computer before it would let me un-check the "Enable IEEE 802.1x Authentication...." checkbox.
Otherwise, it kept rechecking the IEEE box.

Does the Laptop see the wirelss in Available Wireless Networks, in the windows Network and Sharing Center? Is the wireless password protected? What OS are you using in the IBM ThinkPad T40.

My computer wont connect to my wireless conection. keeps saying validating address

Sounds like you don't have the password in correctly. It's case sensitive and has to be exact otherwise it will keep on polling trying to validate.

Go back into the network settings and put the password in again.

I have a cisco by linksys and i have validating indentity went a enable on seting and my labtop came up but i still have validating identity when i start up lab top status connection will this go away if...

you will have an option called wifi protected setup(wps)...You need to disable this particular feature...
This feature when enabled gives the error message like "validating identity"...

or by the other way instead of disabling the wps, you can add the network manually by entering the network information like ssid, password and security type...
This will also help....

This is a 100% proven solution for validating identity....
Because I directly work for Belkin....

How can I validate my identify with D-Link-N router? Thanks, Monique

Are you trying to connect to the wireless network on Windows XP.
If you are getting the error " validating identity " Then there is a problem with the wireless conenction.
You can try to add the wireless network manually.
Or if you are using the security type WEP then WPA.
then try to connect.

What do I need to do to validate? I don't even get a prompt for a password, it just goes straight to connecting then hangs on "Validating Identity" Linksys wireless router won't connect

If you installed a new Linksys router then open a broswer window and type the following into the url address:

http://192.168.1.1

The default password is "admin". Leave the user name blank. This will open up your router's configuration page. You can then modify your settings.

My dell Laditude D610 keeps saying validating identity when i try to connect to my new network.

I had an idea for your "validating identity problem."

Can you get to a dialog box that shows the "Properties" for your wireless networks. What we are looking for is specific for the connection to your wireless network.

We want to get to a page that asks if you want to "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network." If you disable this (no check mark), does the "validating identity" problem go away?

Let me know if you need more specific help.

Dell Inspiron 8600 validating problems

This is a problem associated with a wireless connection. What it is asking for is the identity of your wireless lan. That is, the name the router is broadcasting. This is called the network ID.and is what you must supply when asked. If you untick the IEEE.802.1 you disable the connection. You will also need to have the nework securety code (WEP) to logon.

Getting a validating identity message that stays there for minutes then I get little or no connectivity. Using WPA-personal with a 12 character password

I think the problem is the little or no connectivity. If you're not getting a good signal the verification process with your WPA and password is timing out before you can get verified. You probably need to turn antenna or get less blockage between you and source before trying.

Validating identity

it is just that the network key which is stored in the computer is not working so the 1st thing u need to do is verify the network key for that go to 192.168.0.1 from internet explorer enter the user id & password of ur dlink ( default id: admin password : admin) the go to wireless check the WEP or security key which is present their. reenter that key the computer & try to connect.

If it didn't work then go to control panel >> system >> hardware>> device manager

look for the network adepter & unintall the wireless network card
restart the computer
once restart it will automatically reintall the wireless card driver
then go to control panel>>Network Connection
right click on wireless network connection
select view wireless network connect
select ur network name & connect it will ask for the key provide the key & once u do that it will get connected & work fine

if in case u have the same problem replay back & i help u out with it & also provide all the details like which windows & network card etc
