With the unit OFF
plug in your GPS to your computer using a USB cable ( its the same usb cable cameras use to connect to computer
your computer will detect new Hardware (usb port ) minimise the pop up box
go to www.MyGarmin.com register your unit there its free, and it will also detect your model of your gps and let you download the lastest Maps and Firmware
Garmin will tell you to download WebUpDater utility to transfers maps to your unit
