Question about Samsung SCX-5115 Fax Machines
I installed a Samsung SCX-5115 printer onto a win XP machine, and can NOT get anything to scan. Initially I was receiving various twain error messages, so I downloaded the latest software and drivers from Samsung's website, uninstalled the old, and installed the new.
Now I am able to print, but the computer simply hangs whenever I try to scan a document. I tried scanning through Smart Thru 3, and a third party utility, nothing works.

I need a little more description. Does the ADF handles the first page, or no page at all? Keep in mind that Samsung designs its own scanning application (SmartThru). Also check that the connection (parallel or USB) is correctly configured on your app.

My connection is via a parallel to parallel cable, and I am also having a similar problem. I'm reading that usb to usb cable is the only way it will properly function. good luck with it!

SOURCE: SCX 4100 scanner problems
In the SmartThru application, find the devices connected list (usually on the upper right corner at the main screen). Select the SCX-4100 from the list, since this software will work with many scanners. After selecting the unit, close and restart the program.
