If I understand correctly, your garbage disposal came loose from the sink basket.

In trying to free my gabirator of goop the whole - geno_3245_49.jpg

The darker blue arrows point to the connector disc.
The connector disc rotates freely when garbage disposal is not connected to sink basket.
The trick is to lift the disposal into place with one hand.
Push up hard while keeping disposal lined up with sink basket.
Then use other hand to rotate connector until it catches on sink basket.

Before starting:
Disconnect the tubular drain pipes because these pipes will have to be re-sealed.
The electric wire and dishwasher hose can stay connected

If you are disabled or impaired, use a car jack or bottle jack to lift the disposal ... but go slow and don't lift the whole sink.

Now to reconnect the tubular drain pipes.
Disassemble these pipes.
Clean the pipes and washers.
If washers are rubber, buy new ones.
If washers are plastic, re-use old ones after they are cleaned.
I use rectoseal on all tubular washers when installing pipes under the sink.
Coat the washers with plenty of rectoseal and the tubular drain pipes will seal first-time with no leaks.

Hello, I am John at J. D. Electronics. You have a D4 model. This is caused by a defective spacer under the A / V board. This is not recommended for owner repair, since it involves removal of other PCBs, Sheilds and "spacers" and connectors. On the A / V board ( the one with all the jacks ), is an audio IC that normally runs fairly hot. Therefore, the MFG had to use an aluminum heat sink on the top and bottom of the IC. The problem is that there is a "clay like " spacer pressed between the bottom PCB at the audio IC and an aluminum plate, or heat sink, underneath that sets against the metal back of the LCD panel. Here is what happened; The "spacer " turns into a "sticky goop" causing the whole pcb move towards the Heat Sink under the A / V board. This causes the connections at A / V pcb at the audio IC to come in contact with the bottom aluminum heat sink, thus shorting out the audio IC and then no sound or popping noises. This is common on the D4 and D6 models. We charge about $325 for this repair since it is very time consuming. I have repaired dozens of these sets with this problem. I hope this helps! John

How do you disassemble the Badger5 1/2 horsepower sink erator.model #5-81

The badger has two parts:
1) The sink strainer basket that attaches to sink with three screws visible from below.
2) The disposal which connects to sink basket with connector ring.
There is a rubber washer between disposal and sink basket

geno_3245_218.jpg

If you drop disposal loose from the sink, you can get spoons and other stuff out.
The disposal itself does not come apart for repairs.

I wrote tips for replacing disposal, which include information you might be able to use:

When I worked apartment maintenance, we replaced disposal with same brand disposal.
That way we didn't have to change out sink basket or move pipes around under the sink.
How to: Disconnect 2 nuts on p-trap and trap falls loose.
Rotate steel connector disk that holds disposal to sink basket, and disposal comes off.
Before installing new disposal.
Attach electric wire to new disposal, and push in reset button.
Attach dishwasher tube to new disposal. Knock out plug inside dishwasher opening.
Push new disposal up into place, and attach to old sink basket.
There is a rubber washer between disposal and sink basket, use new washer.
Attachment ring catches at three points, all three have to connect.
You can use bottle jack to lift disposal if you have problem.
Re-assemble tubular pipe.

If this is your home, you want new sink basket that comes with new disposal because it looks shiny and new.
Buy a tub of plumbers putty also.
Remove old sink basket and clean sink opening.
Put finger-size roll of plumbers putty around sink opening, and then push new strainer basket into plumbers putty.
Tighten basket from below, wipe away excess putty around sink opening.
Install new disposal as described above.

geno_3245_220.jpg

Tips for tubular pipes:
When taking apart tubular pipes, start at p-trap and take apart as few pieces as needed to do job.
On image below, loosen both upper and lower nuts, trap falls loose, and then work on disposal.
Any tubular drain pipe that gets moved while working under sink needs to be disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled.
Metal pipes have rubber washer >> always use new rubber washers.
Plastic pipes have plastic washers > plastic washers can be cleaned and re-used.
Plastic washers have flat side that goes toward nut, tapered side away from nut.

geno_3245_219.jpg

When reassembling tubular pipe, we use rectorseal on washers and joints.
Slap a good amount on washer just before pushing washer in place and attaching nut.
Rectorseal will ensure tubular drain pipes won't leak.

THE PROBLEM IS THE SILICONE HOLDING THE SINK TO THE GRANITE HAS LET GO

Sinks are held in two ways:
1) Clips under the sink hold it to countertop.
2) Adhesive caulk.

Consult installer who will know exactly what adhesive is correct for your top.
And what procedure will minimize clean-up and not damage top.

To do this yourself:
Take photos of everything before starting so you know how it goes back.
Dry off countertop and then let dry for couple hours, then outline location of sink with masking tape.
This will help you reinstall sink in exact location and minimize caulk clean-up after smoothing out caulk bead with wet finger when sink goes back in.
We use wet/damp sponge to help caulk >> here's how it works: Wet finger on sponge, smooth caulk short ways with finger, wipe excess on paper towel, wet finger again, repeat slowly around sink. Remove tape immediately after caulk is smoothed.

Disconnect tubular drains at P-trap.
Disconnect disposal from sink basket and lay down inside cabinet.
Or you can leave disposal connected to sink, if you're strong enough to lift sink and disposal together. In that case, disconnect electric wire and dishwasher tube.
Turn off water. Disconnect supply lines at shut off.

Lift out sink.
Use pry bar and pry against wood paint stick.
Use bottle jack or car jack from underneath, and go real slow.
Have cardboard boxes where you can set sink up off floor.
Setting sink up will let you work on heavy sink and won't scratch floor.
Remove old caulk with single-edge razor blade, or scraper. Go slow not to scratch anything.

Apply new, continuous bead of caulk and set sink in place.
Sink will have to be held tightly by someone while working underneath.
Attaching disposal to sink basket without moving sink will the challenge.

Attach water supply lines, turn on water and check there are no leaks.
Lift disposal into place and attach with ring... leave attachment ring bit loose until tubular p-trap is aligned.

Any tubular pipes that were moved must be taken apart, cleaned and reassembled.
Rubber washers are replaced with new ones.
Plastic washers are cleaned and re-used. Tapered end of plastic washer goes away from nut.
We use rectorseal on all tubular joints when re-assembling under-sink pipes.
Smear it all over each washer and p-trap joint before attaching nut.

The tarish padding under my Franke sink has come off in a huge piece. It looks like a piece of a shingle from a roof. Some one suggested just to glue it back on? With what kind of glue? It looks like...

All that is is sound deadener to make the sink quieter with dish washing. You can use any sort of high tack glue. I am fond of household goop. Mine fell off long ago and I tossed it. never noticed a difference.

Will under mounted sink take the weight of garburator?

The sink should be physically mounted with clips if it is not cast iron, otherwise a cradle made of wood is usually the route I go.

Will under mounted sink take the weight of garburator?

No the weight of the disposal will not separate the sink from the granite. When they set the sink they put wood on the edge under the sink to hold the weight of the sink. You will not have a problem.

Badger 5 EX 3/4 Hp In sink Erator

the disposal is attache to the button of th sink by means of ring and clamps.
take a look how th ekitchen sink is mounted. the disposal is mounted the same way. you may need to get new rubber seal and a new plate for the buttom, where the screws is. you can take the ring to the near home center of plumbing store, and get a replacement.

you can use "plumber's putty", or " goop" .thing else will keep the water out.
