Try to restart the RPC (remote procedure call) of the computer. Right click My Computer->Manage and go to the services section. Search procedure call service on the right side then double click on that. Click stop wait for 5 secs then click start. Restart the computer then do a test print.

This is much simpler solution that might work for you. It works for other.

Change setup in msconfig
1. Go to start, and click run
2. In the box type " msconfig " and press key
3. On General tab..select " Normal Startup "
4. Click Apply and click Ok
5. You will need to reboot.

If error still appears, the problem could be caused by the Spooler Service not starting or has failed. To start the service...
1. Go to the control panel,
2. Open "Administrative Tools"
3. Open Component Services
4. Click on Services
5. Scroll to the "Print Services" and right click
6. Select Properties
7. Select the "Startup Type" as "Automatic
8. Click the OK button to close the window
9. close all windows and restart the computer

I hope that solution works for you.
Just post back.

If you're trying to print using a network printer, you'll need to check with your network administrato to check the printer configuration. If you are using a home printer, try clicking the START button, then click CONTROL PANEL. Click the Printer or Devices and Printer option. From there, look for your correct printer, then right-click it and click on top of it and then click Set Default Printer.

If you are working on a document, click the File menu of the program you are using, then click Printer Properties, then select your correct printer, click Ok and test printing again. Let me know how it goes.

would help if you can provide details if you're using a home computer and a home printer only without any local area network connection. Another thing you can try, however, is to go to the device manager, uninstall the existing printer driver, then download and install the latest driver for it available from its vendor's web site.

if you get a message your spooler is not running when you try to print, go to your printer settings and try to enable spooler and test the printer again.

Download these two files
1. Spoolss.dll (Click Here to download)

2. Spoolsv.exe (click here to download)

Copy both the files and paste them into the System32 folder under Windows folder, i.e. Copy both the files, Open My Computer, then "C:" drive and again open "Windows", locate "System32" and paste them and paste there.

Restart your computer and try printing again. If this doesn't fix the problem (clears the error), let me know with more details, including the Windows installed on your computer.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Rpc server is unavailable when installing printer

Hi,
According to the error message, I assume that the spooler service cannot find out the printer on the network.
You may set the startup type of Printer Spooler service to Manual or Delayed Start for a test.
You could go to Customer support- just dial +1(800)243-0051 Toll Free.

I have installed hp laserjet 1000 on server 2003.I have shared this printer to my network.I am even able to print from client machines remotely. But one of my client machine shows 'The RPC server is...

RPC service may not be available or started on the client machine.
To start/ enable it go to 'Run Command' and type 'services.msc' , locate REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL (RPC) and start the service.

http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Fix-RPC-Error-When-the-RPC-Server-is-Unavailable&id=3298701

Have you gotten an RPC error lately? They look a little like this:
- "RPC Server is Unavailable"
- OR "The RPC Server is too busy to complete the task"
- Here's the best one, "Access denied"
This is fun stuff. Unfortunately, an RPC error is one of the most common errors out there, and most of us don't even know what RPC is.
What is RPC?
RPC stands for "Remote Procedure Call." This probably still doesn't tell you much. Let's see if we can put this in non-technical language. RPC is the go between of your computer and server. This is what allows your computer to access a network.
RPC has two main parts to it: the client and the server. When the client (the program requesting something) sends a message to the server (the process that takes the order or performs the task), it is being asked to execute a certain procedure. The client waits for the server to process the call before resuming the execution.
Why Won't the RPC Server Work?
Usually, the RPC error pops up because there is some sort of miscommunication between the computer and the server. Most of the time, the wires get crossed somewhere due to Internet components that are not configured or activated. Sometimes it is just a matter of adjusting the Internet Firewalls or Proxy Server.
Quick RPC Error Fix
One way to investigate an RPC server error is to verify that you have enabled the DCOM Tunneling is enabled and not being blocked by any third party Internet Security programs such as AVG, Norton, McAfee, etc.
To do this:
1. Go to Start and Run
2. Type in DCOMCNFG
3. Click on Component Services
4. Click on Computers
5. In Computers, right click My Computer
6. Choose Properties
7. Go the Default Properties tab
8. Check the "Enable DCOM" tab
9. Go to the Default Protocols tab
10. Click Add
11. By the Protocol Sequence move the down arrow to Tunneling TCP/IP
12. Click OK
13. Click MoveUp button until Tunneling is at the top of the list
14. Now you may select SPX and Remove
15. Click OK or close the program out
16. Restart the computer
When You Need Help with the RPC Error
The RPC Error is such a common error, it seems like it should be easy to fix. However, the DCOM Tunneling fix is only the beginning of troubleshooting an RPC server error. The good news is that you really don't have to do anything when it comes to an RPC error if you maintain your computer with registry maintenance tools. Try researching the benefits of a registry cleaner to fix RPC errors.

HI While installing Vedio driver is trowing RPC server unava

Hello sans_sankar,

If it says RPC server is unavailable, that has to do with your internet connection.

Check if both ends of your ethernet or USB cable are properly plugged in their ports on your modem or router to your computer.

You can also turn the modem or router off for a minute then turn it back on again.

Your video installation should be complete, otherwise, it might be incompatible with your computer.

Hope that helps.

Cant install printer to pc

Could be a corrupted file in your spooler folder:

Info from Microsoft:
To resolve this issue:

  1. Copy the Spoolss.exe and Spoolss.dll files from another Windows NT 4.0-based server or workstation to the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder on the affected computer.
  2. Apply or reapply the latest appropriate Windows NT service pack, and then restart the computer.
  3. Set the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service to start automatically:
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Services.
    2. On the Service list, click Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service, and then click Startup.
    3. Under Startup Type, click Automatic, and then click OK.
  4. Restart your computer.

HP print spooler problem and error 1068. Want my printer back!!!

hi! Print Spooler is actually a service for your Operating system-
Try this

Click on start and click on run
in the open box type in services.msc and your services local window should open, scroll down and look for print spooler, highlight it and do a right click and on the dropdown menu left click on stop and it will go to a process of stopping the service and then right click back and click on start. if you get an error message about print spooling or spooler, then that means you have a problem with the operating system. call or go to microsoft help and support online in that case. and RPC server unavailable error has something to do with a network printer. but i believe you setup the printer locally.
