Question about LG 22" FLATRON LCD Monitor

2 Answers

Hi...I have a Flatron W2234S that is about one year old. It has been problem free until recently when I moved. Now all of a sudden it comes on and immediately goes off and I have to turn it on and off 3 or more times before it will stay on. Once it stays on it stays on until I leave it long enough for it to go into sleep mode...once it goes to sleep I have to do the shut off and on to get it to stay on once again...I have done some research and have a suspicion it is a capacitor problem...what do you think? I have run diagnostics on it and my computer says it's working properly and the driver is current...I need some feedback...thanks :)

Hi,
This a problem with the VGA card in the moniter. The part number you require are Manufacturer Part Number EBU59489401
Board Numbers 791501300700R
For a replacement card. Mine would work ok till used sleep mode or sized screen then loop on off. As less than 3 years unlikey to be the inverter caps. The w2234s is very easy to dissamble and check, has no screws, holding out casing together. However don't dis charge it's capacitors so keep finger to the side of the internal power board! Work ok once fitted new moniter VGA module
, hence inverter was ok. other name for moniter VGA is 'main PCB' , stops confusion with the PC VGA card, in the PC. It's the other end ~ that need changing not the PC end!

You can take it apart and inspect for bulging capacitors - the tops should be perfectly flat. Even a slight bulge at the top is an indication that the capacitor is bad.

Hi, I have a LG Flatron W2234S LCD screen and yesterday it started cycling through the light view modes and now does it intermittently What could be the cause and how o i fix it?

I had the same problem. Contacted LG as I was sure this model had a 3 year guarantee. It did, and it still had until the end of this year to run. They originally queried this, but on production of original receipt they happily replaced my unit. When I first checked the net, this model would appear to be less than 3 years old, hence it was definitely covered.
Give this a try, and good luck.

Doese not want 2 go on !!

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed LG and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Hello, I have a LG flatron w2234s and a week ago the screen started to shut down on its own while i'm using the computer or when it goes to sleep mode. The screen gives me the LG sign and just turns off...

First try it on another Pc, you'll know the root of the problem. If there's no problem on another pc then the problem would be with your video card/motherboard. If the problem is still the same on another Pc, then your monitor has internal problem. You better call up a technician, he/she will check it for you, must be Pcb problem. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

No picture lg flatron w2234s blinking blue light

Hi My screen developed exactly the same problem. It appears to be a hardwear problem associated with the screen it's self. continuity test is ok on the lead so I took it back to the shop under warranty and hey presto, the replacement works. I don't know what the problem is but there are a number of other folks on another thread with the same problem and their entries are dated May 09 too.  Dave
