If the camera is recognized by your computer (as a Removeable USB device) and if you are using the Olympus [ib] software, the probable cause is Olympus [ib] software related. You can try to repair the created picture database using the Data Repair option in the camera menu (see the manual page 41).
An alternative is to use a SD / SDHC card to put your pictures on and transfer them using the card reader in the computer. It is also possible to transfer taken pictures from the cameras internal memory to a placed SD / SDHC card in the camera (see the manual page 41).

Why cant I take photos

Go down the menu until you find the section that lets you format the SD card. This will create the files needed to store photos on this brand of camera. The SD card has no way of knowing what device it will be used in so the format sets that up so the camera can use the "drive" for storage. This is a one time only format. Do not ever format a card until you have multiple backups of what was saved on that card. After backing those up onto an external drive or computer or flash drive, verify the information is readable and the videos/photos appear on screen. This is a great time to create a folder describing the events and rename the pictures so you can find them easily in three or four years.

Kodak z710 I cannot transfer photos onto my computer.

It may be time to buy a card reader for your computer. You can get one at a department or electronics store for not much more than a cup of coffee.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

How to tranfer picture from camera to flash drive

Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable. the computer will see the camera as an external storage device. You can then copy the photo from the camera to the computer's hard disk and or your flash memory stick.
If you camera has the photos stored on a SD memory card you can remove the SD card and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Then connect the card reader into the USB port of your computer to download the photos from the SD card to the computer's hard disk and or your flash memory stick.

Just bought new camera it says msdc

The MSDC option in digital cameras stands for Mass Storage Device Class. It is one of the many subclasses of the USB computer peripheral connection protocol.

This class as implemented in digital cameras, allows a connection between a computer and a digital camera by showing the digital camera, when connected to the computer, as a removable disk drive, temporarily attached to the computer. Pictures taken are retrieved using either cut and paste, copy and paste or drag and drop from the digital camera's picture folder onto a real hard drive or other writeable media available in the computer.

In addition, arbitrary data (does not have to be pictures) can be stored in the digital camera's onboard memory to the limit of the memory. The MSDC device class can be implemented by any kind of electronic device which has embedded memory storage in any form such as flash memory, IDE hard drives, etc.

I want to take the photos that I have in kodak file and copy them to flash dirve.

sheri359,

If you are using Kodaks easyshare program then you can simply "drag & drop" the pictures onto your flash drive. You can also trying looking on your "C: drive" (hard drive) for your pictures. Normally Kodak Easyshare stores pictures at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Pictures\Kodak Pictures. Once you find your pictures all you need to do is select all the pictures you want to copy and paste them into your flash drive.

If the pictures are on your camera then connect your camera to the computer and then click on "My Computer" on your desktop or under the start menu (if you are using Windows). Then if a few seconds you should see a drive pop up that will say "Kodak*****", proceed to double click on that and keep clicking into the folders until you see your pictures. Once you see your pictures copy all of them. Once copied open up "My Computer" again and select your flash drive. Once inside your flash drive then right click in the window and select "paste". Your pictures should start copying over to your flash drive. Once the copying it complete you are the safe to remove your flash drive.

Note: I am assuming that you are using a Microsoft Windows operating system. If you are using MAC OS X then it is slightly different but similar.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

Memory card shows empty on pc, but it does have pics and videos

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I have a Sony Cyper-shot 6.o Mega Pixels camera (given to me with no manual) I've got the cord to connect camera to PC. I cannot figure out how to load the pictures from the camera onto my e-mail account.

The mamory card in the camera will show up as a "Removable Disk" on your computer.

1. Go to "My Computer". The camera will probably be Drive E.
2. Click on Drive E (or whatever the "removable disk" is) and open (click) any folders that show up. The pictures will be several folders down.
3. You can then copy these to your "My Pictures" folder in "My Documents" or "browse" to that drive when you want to attach a picture to your email

Hope this helps!

I need the cd too!

There is no software or cd needed to upload the pictures. It did come with one. Simply connect the provided usb cable to the camera and computer. Then locate the "computer" tab on your computer and find the removable drive's section. The pictures may be in your G or F drive. Open the folder and you will see the picture files. You can copy or cut and paste them where ever you like. If you cannot find the provided usb cable, you can purchase it by visiting http://store.mattel.com.
