check the back of the monitor, you will see a wire connecting from the monitor to the CPU. Make sure the wire is is firmly connected to the CPU. That wire is called VGA cord and that's what makes the CPU display on the monitor.
It is possible that the wire is shaking and that might be what's making it loose contact and can cause the screen to flash.
Let me know what happens when firmly connect the VGA cord/wire.
