Question about Sony DAV-C770 System

1 Answer

Audio CD's work fine and play completely. BUT, DVD movies, perhaps 30 to 45 minutes into the movie (when the unit has warmed up) the unit stops paying the DVD. I suspect the internal temp may have some "expansion" effect on a circuit connection. The unit always works cold, but heating up causes the problem.

My Sylvania portable dvd keeps cuting on and off everytime I put a movie in but the movie never plays it just says loading and starts cutting on and off

Try putting an audio CD in, if it works fine thats a very good indicator that the laser is going/is bad. A audio CD has much less data to read so it's able to keep up, but not with the DVD.

Dear Sirs, Recently, my Sharp dvd-video combi player has been encountering some problems regarding the playing of dvd's. When I watch a movie, in several occasions the movie will freeze up. And for...

the DVD unit in your sharp is a self contained unit. IT is only repaired by replacing the DVD as a assembly. the cost of replacing may exceed the cost of purchasing a new one.
The most likely cause of your problem is in the brass gear assy that runs the optical pick up in the traverse deck. IT is not an available part.

Dvd drive does not recognize a dvd movie or a blank dvd gateway m-7315u it scans some after a few minutes it stops menu does not open or it won't play a movie

the lens is gone bad in the drive... you can replace the lens but it costs more and also will not be worth...it will play for another 3 months and will give the same problem...for replacing the lens you wll spend Rs.600, but a new player you can bought for Rs.1000 so my advice is to better go and buy a new player with atleast an year of warranty and use it completely for one year...

When I burn movies from my hp laptop the movie burns fine, but when i watch the movie on my dvd player it plays fine until 1/2 way and then freezes. What can I do to stop this from happening?

Use a high density CD-R or DVD-R disc not the RW (read-write) ones to sustain quality. Also, when you are using Nero, check the option "Verify Disc integrity" before clicking the "burn" command so that the disc will be verified on its data integrity after the burning process is completed.

Wont start the movie it keeps running but then says no disc

With the large variety of video formats available nowadays it's difficult to find a unit that plays them all. Chances are you want to play a movie you burned yourself, and though it plays on your PC, it will not play on the DVD player.
Try playing the disc on your PC, and then try different DVD units, perhaps pretending you're shopping for one and want to try your own movie. Chances are these new units may NOT play it either, perhaps because you're using DivX or Xvid two video format contenders on the PC because their codecs offer great compression and very good quality (small file size and even HD video).
If it works on your PC it's because you may have the latests codecs (codifier / decodifier) installed, since some of them may have installed themselves as plugins for your browser, or come as part of a DVD viewing program you may have installed, like WinDVD.
For the time being, watch the DVD on your PC and upgrade your player, if it's more than 2 yrs. old.
Good luck!

DVD Audio Output Stops

Hey Kelby,

I've had a similar experience where a DVD movie would be playing and suddenly my Denon would just shut off, I later discovered that my rear speaker cables were not correctly installed in the back so the reciever recognized it as a short and would just shut down. Just make sure your rear speaker cables are correctly installed (right to right and left to left and with correct positive/negative placement) and see if it still does it. If it's still happening, then I wouldn't know what it is. Good luck.
