Question about NRS Hoveround MPV 5 - Used Power Wheelchair

1 Answer

Does my Hoveround need to be on or off when I plug it into the battery? Does it need to be on so that the lights show up on the joy stick or do you turn the chair completely off and then plug in the battery?

Either way will work when charging the batteries and it wion't hurt the chair either way. If you can stand to have the lights scrolling all night when you charge the chair then leave it on If not turn the power off Your charger will tell you when its finished by turning the yellow light green. Hope this helps

First measure the voltage of the batteries at the charging socket of the joystick.

Check your battery connections, make absolutely sure it is connected correctly.

Place a multimeter in the XLR plug (joystick). You should have around 26V reading if batteries are connected correctly.

Check the free wheel levers. place the chair in free wheel and move back and forth a couple of times. Place the chair back into drive, turn on controller and try to drive. ( This is not typically associated with a clicking sound but will ensure your brakes are not on)

If you are still hearing a clicking sound, it could be a problem with the brake or a motor. A qualified technician should really look at it for you.

Chair will power up, however lights just blink constantly. The joy stick will not work. Hoveround Teknique.

jfinch sorry it took so long to answer. If all the lights are blinking check to make sure that the freewheel levers are in drive mode. then check (if you have the power seat option ) that the seat is all the way down, and finally the problem could be in the controller check to make sure that the cable connection to the controller is well seated. If all these are correct and you still get the error then you will have to contact Hoveround tech support to find out what else you can do. They might have to send out a tech to look at the chair. Sorry I couldn't give you a quick fix Hope this helps you

I have plugged the Soneil battery charger into the MPV4 Hoveround for over 24 hours. Although the indicator shows charging in process, the "battery charge indicator" shows it still requires a substantial...

If your Power Wheel Chair has been sitting idle for a while, the batts may need to be completely replaced. There is a gel inside the batts that need to have a current run through them via the charger on a regualr basis otherwise it will solidify. If the charger lights are onm you have connected the charger correctly for over 24 hours and the batteries are still not showing they have been charge, there may be damaged cells which means both batteries need to be totally replaced.

I own a mpv-4 hoveround, when iam moving forward it wants to pull to left.i have to hold joy stick a little to the right to go straight.is there a adjustment that i can do myself?i have very low income!

Make sure that your tires are both inflated to 45-40 psi, have good tread and are not leaning on or out of the frame. Were both of your batteries replaced at the same time? Is there any noise or vibration coming from the motors that may indicate one has less power than the other? You may want to check the bearings in the casters to ensure they can move freely. I hope this helps!
