Hello hyjacker this post and OPS other identical post on why F2 repeats, this is COMMON !
first take out that relic and bad large battery.
run on AC pack only, still dead?
?
http://pcdied.com/dead-PC.html

the PC is now 9 years old
the RTC COIN CELL BATTERIES, mostly do not go past 7 years, seen 10 happen, but is not PAR,
life span is 5 to 7 years.! facts.
so replace that first,
then reset bios next.
and test on AC Pack only, until the PC runs right again do not use the useless 9 year old HUGE BATTERY, oK?
then make sure boot order in BIOS
shows HDD , in the list.
or the HDD is dead.

the coin cells dead will cause many PC
to stick at BIOS screens, after all it cant find the boot order configurations with that battery dead.
once that is cured, you can boot windows
if the HDD still works.
on some pCs you can hit F2 and it loads BIOS defaults and boots.
but after powering down, all that is lost and all this above repeats.
the service manual on your PC covers this.
but I can not find that manual anywhere...
how to replace your RTC Coin cell.?
here it is, remove any hatches to reach it.
RTC is on the bottom
see yellow blob this is your exact mobo.
this is the bottom side of mobo
open hatches on bottom of PC to gain access.
I see 1 huge hatch in our manual, at asus.
no 2 laptops are the same unless they are exact model. so learn to find it using below photo.

I have a grey startup screen with

    are not photos so grand,
    and manuals on this PC.

the PC fails so boot windows,
and stick on the BIOS main pages, or shows hit F2, to enter setup(means bios)
that means the HDD can not boot.,
    for 3 reasons.
    1: Coin cell is dead.
    2: hDD is dead,
3: OS on HDD is corrupted.

the photo shows the top side, I think
and shows rear on bottom of photo
that large black connector on the rear is huge battery connections.
the hole on right is fan.
the yellow is mr, RTC COIN CELL.
my wild guess is remove keyboard to get to it.
I now show top with keyboard out
my guess is one of 2 lower right cut out
squares are RTC access one can hope.

keyboards come out by 2 ways.
    1: just bottom screws
2: or that and what I call tickle locks on top edge of keyboard, unlock those and out it comes. (or like my HP has BOTH)
there is no rules here, all LAPTOPS are different, no standards exist, on servicing.
that is way a service manual is a joy.

You need not to press F2 or tab or escape unless you need to do so. If your system is ok, it'll automatically boot up, but if there's boot up problem with your system, then that's different. Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: I have an Asus Eee

My suggestion is better to send it on the technical around on your area, to prevent any further damage. And also backup your files by removing your hard disk and slave it to other computer. Just use any converter of mobile hard disk to become a USB type drive. Hope it helps thanks.

Probably the hard drive is dead. Did you drop it recently? Anyway, it could be just the connector, if your good with hardware you could open it and check. I would suggest you to use the warranty though.

I'm afraid that you'll have to get some installation disks for an operating system and boot from it using an external DVD drive (for Windows 7 for instance). If System Recovery doesn't proceed, that's the only way I know to load an operating system.
