Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

Have a GSH25JFTA side by side. We had ice but no water. Thawed the water line but now have more problems. The ice output won't shut off if the ice button is indicated as well as if the water button is highlighted, the water won't shut off. What did we do?

When I first asked the question, we could not get the water to shut off (had to turn the water off) and/or the ice would not shut off (had to take the ice bucket out. Now, we cannot get water or ice to dispense at all.

Now everything is clearer and more specific. The problem is very frequent and very easy to be solved. The water solenoid valve for both ice and water is one dual valve and this due to water dirt and long time use the internal pillars are not move freely so sometime stuck at open position and sometimes to close position. So all you need is to replace the part no 800 , Water valve asm - Dual refrigerator water valve for icemaker and water in the door. Has new style john guest fittings for water outlet lines, water inlet fitting is compression.
Part Number: AP3192626 made by GE

The above part and all other parts of your fridge can be found in this link.

Freezing Water line

Hello
The problem here is your water valve. It does not shut off all the way and allows very slow water flow through the water line. It is so small that it freezes in the supply tube causing a blockage. When your ice maker calls for water the pressure from the blockage pops the line out causing your leak.
You need to replace your water valve. Dual valve at the back of the fridge.."water inlet valve")

Icemaker not working

Its probably the water tray not filling. On the back of the freezer, there should be a hose that goes into the ice maker - remove the screw that holds the tubing in place, and gently pull out the hose. Let it sit for about an hour - chances are, you stopped using a lot of ice, and the water in the fill line to the ice maker froze. Once that's thawed, water should be able to flow again.

While you're behind the refrigerator, there may be an envelope with instructions for the ice maker - specifically, how to start the cycle. After the water line has thawed, you will want to start a cycle and verify the water is flowing. You should be able to hear it flowing.

Ice maker not making ice

Hello,

There is a tub that goes through the back of the freezer wall into the ice maker. Sometimes this tube will freeze shut and needs to be thawed out.

The water fill tube will freeze shut from low water pressure. Ether from a bad water valve or low pressure to the refrigerator itself.

Pull the refrigerator out and remove the tube from the back wall to check it
Good luck.......

Sounds like the fill tube to the icemaker has frozen shut. The fill tube will need to be thawed out. The possible cause could be a water valve malfunction or if the ref has a water filter built in, it may be clogged and need replaced.

GE refrigerator freezer water dispenser failure GSH25JFTA

Some have said that if you are fridge is still making ice, then your water line may be frozen. So you need to let it thaw out by leaving the freezer door open. Figure out somewhat to try and keep the cold air in by using plastic sheeting or something, until the line thaws. You can't dispense water with the door open, so reach up press the button that makes it think its closed and try to dispense the water..or just shut the door to test it out. I am going to try this when I get home today, because I am having the same problem on my GE model# GSH25JFTA BB.

Will not make ice but will give water model number is gss22wgmb ww

check the dual water valve one side is for the icemaker the other for the water in the door
either a water valve issue or a ice maker problem
if the valve checks good check the line off of the valve to the ice maker you should be able to blow thorugh the line to the ice maker if you caint blow through the line it is frozen in the freezer behind the icemaker and will need to be thawed
if you can blow though the line to the icemaker
replace the icemaker
