Question about Hotpoint WD62 Front Load Washer / Dryer

1 Answer

Unbelievable...leaking again!!! Got an engineer out to fix the leaking during the spin cycle (sock got stuck in the pipe). First time that has happened since we have owned the machine (5+ years), but now I have a feeling that we have the same problem again, as we are experiencing the exact same symptoms :-( I wasn't at home when the engineer arrived (only my wife was home), so I don't know what he had to take apart to get the sock that was stuck in the pipe, out. Is it a simple task or would be just be a lot better/easier to call the engineer back out? Any help would be very much appreciated. Regards Ron.

Thanks tresilla, I'll give that a go as we still have the leak (yes, I know, I still haven't got round to looking at it :-( ). Hopefully that will fix the problem, and we'll be back to a healthy machine again!

Take panel off at bottom rear. you will see a large diameter pipe going from bottom of machine to pump. undo pipe at machine end - carefull lots of water will come out. sock was probably in this pipe which also holds the filter

I have a problem with my Kenmore Washer. I have tried everything in this article, and although I got the washer back up and running for a load, it's starting to show the same problem again. The water will...

If a coin goes in the drain line and is the same diameter it can stay in and sometimes flip and act as a flapper. One time it may be open and the next flip and close the line off. Take the line off and try and see if it is obstructed.

There is either something stuck in the water pump (rogue sock) - front of machine - bottom right, open the flap, remove the plug and check (p.s. it will drop lots of water).

OR, underneath the machine - where the exit pipe from the drum, you will see a split ring holding on the rubber waste pipe. Behind that is a ping pong ball and rubber seal. Socks and the like do collect here.

It's happened about 6 times to me, have got used to fixing it.

If it is leaking from the waste pump area it may be blocked by a small piece of clothing like a sock or something similar! This will also cause it to take too long to complete a cycle. Remove the rubber hose onto the waste pump and check inside the hose and the pump, make sure the pump spins freely and that nothing is stuck in the hose pipes leading to the pump
