Ethernet drivers So my computer got a HORRIBLE virus. I had to wipe it and reinstall windows. Apparently in doing so I deleted my Ethernet Adapter drivers. Emachines sent me new drivers and I installed them. However, it did not install properly, because it still will not recognize the network. HELP!

System crashed. Had to use the Restore Disk and in the process, it deleted the ethernet drivers. Contacted E-Machines support who tried to sell me more RAM in addition to not having the drivers anymore. Need to find somewhere to get the drivers.

I think my network card is bad. My internet / email isn't working on my desktop (although it works fine on my laptop). And the computer is not recognizing anything when I type ipconfig. So, i think i need...

since the network card is built onto the motherboard reinstalling the driver would be the best first option.

HERE is the link to the driver.
Broadcom827.exe - Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet driver Version: 8.27.1.0
Supports: Windows XP
Note: This is the Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet driver for use with the Big Lake, Cortez, and Putton Bay motherboards in Windows XP.

I would try that first.

Driver missing

I think the virus was not yet deleted in your system and the virus are blocking some of the drivers in your computer, format your computer in normal way. And try re-installing it.

I had to reinstall windows xp. Now I cannot connect to the internet.

Make sure the driver of the Ethernet Card on your computer is installed. You check it under Device Manager

Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Network Adapters (click the +). If you see Other Devices with yellow exclamations like Ethernet Controller, that's it. You need to run the Motherboard CD to automatically install the ethernet driver.

Window Re-Install and no Ethernet Driver

use another computer to get the drivers from the dell webite (at home, library, friends) and save them on a CD or removable media. This would be the fastest and cost effective way. If you can get on the net to post this question then you can download and save the drivers as well

Can't find Network Adapters

Are there any "!" marks under device manager?

There's a possibility you installed the network adapter driver, but not the chipset driver.
