On back of unit remove the 2 screws holding down the gas valve, remove wires and pilot tubing from valve, open side access door and you will see a brass nut turn counter clockwise and remove manifold and valve out the back of unit then unscrew the valve from manifold.

Heater turned up all the way won't heat the house

The temperature sensor that tells the unit to come on could be too close to the unit...smetimes they are loose and not in their correct location....the Thermostatic control itself can be loose or just older...out of calibration or just getting defective....sometimes you can adjust the knob and recalibrate it yourself by moving it slightly on way or the other ...I would lean toward getting older and the cntrol is getting weaker....or as I said the thermostat sensor is too close....beware though...too far away can make it run too long and get too hot could then cause a fire...always watch clearance to combustibles etc and make sure the sensor is where it's supposed to be...

Pilot light has no gas coming out, verified gas going into gas valve, but no gas coming out when pilot light button depressed.

Pilot orifice may be clogged. Remove pilot tube and orifice. Blow out orifice with compressed air only and reassemble. Also, control valve may be bad.
