Question about GE 24 in. GLD5560LSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

I have a newer model GE dishwasher. About a couple of weeks ago we lost power to home. When power was returned the dishwasher was making a high pitch sound and power was not returned to the front display. I had to remove a black/white wire from front of the display to make the high pitch sound go away. Do you have any solutions to make the high pitch so go away and for power to be restored to the front display? Thank you.

Hello

High pitch sound comes when the main control also known as the electronic board goes bad and needs replacement. Please try to blow air with hair dryer on the display just to check if that'll solve the problem. Hope you understand...If it does not then replacement of part is only recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Basically, the dishwasher was working fine up until a couple of weeks ago when it just will not fill with water; it drains fine having filled it with water manually and switched on, all the water gets

HI, First I hope you checked that someone has not turned the water off. next, you will find that the inlet of the water is operated by a solenoid valve. This has I would expect, stopped working. You will need to remove the power, then remove the top of the dishwasher. the inlet valve is where the cold water enters the dishwasher. You will need the make and model of the dishwasher, buy the new valve and replace the dead one. it will take longer for the new one to arrive than it will to change them over. Good luck

Completely disassembled + tested GE dishwasher, but still won't drain

Air Gap on the sink could be clogged.
Solenoid on the motor could be melted or overheated and it is not letting the check valve open.
Also the motor should make noise. It could be stuck so that it gets voltage but is not turning. You can hear it humming. Unplug the dishwasher and from the front underneath, you can see the fins of the motor. It should spin freely. If it is stuck, the you can force it free by turning the fins with a couple of screwdrivers.Sometime if you don't use the dishwasher weekly, the motor seals dry and gets stuck.

According to this link, it should reset after the power is shut off for awhile. Maybe try holding the start/reset button too. Also check the circuit breaker or any fuses

GE profile model GSD 4120y70BB the second soap dispensor does not open at the right time. When cycle is done and the door is opened the soap has just ran down. It is like it is opening to late.

Hi

Many dishwashers (but not all) use a BI-metal strip that heats up once power is applied to it. The BI-metal strip bends and allows the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. This bi-metal strip is not given full 120 volts power, the timer "shunts" the power through either the heating element ( most common ) or the motor and this gives the bi-metal strip lower than full power to work and open. Most often the bi-metal strip has lost its ability to bend properly and needs to be replaced. Older GE dishwashers used a mechanical arm driven by the timer to open the dispenser = no electrical bi-metals. Newer (plastic liner) Maytag dishwashers and many newer Whirlpool and Frigidaire dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser; this wax motor does receive 120 volts to work. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. This is what a wax motor looks like.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Dishwasher not always draining

If the dishwasher drains through the vent pipe on your sink it may be clogged. I had that problem as well. Unscrew the vent cap and look for junk. In my case of all things it was dog hair!!

Dana, on some of these GE's the power to the fill valve goes through the push button assy. WD21X10110. I have had a couple like this. Doing this from memory but contacts 1&3 need to be closed on that switch. As long as the tech verified power out of the timer, have him check the push button assy. Catriver..post back.
