Question about Roper REX3614KW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

The dryer will not heat. Less than a year old and previously worked. I am not sure if I have the three wire hookup correct? Does the wire from the green grounding lug go under the center ground wire?

Hello: I have a Maytag MDE9700AYM that was purchased three years ago but has been installed for less than one year. After the unit runs for 10-20 minutes, the circuit breakers trips off. Otherwise the...

It's possibly the circuit breaker rather than the dryer itself. Usually when it trips, it is overloaded or shorted. Overload can be a result of a loose connection or a bad heating element, when you remove the old breaker, see if it has some noticeable burn/corrosion marks where the wire is screwed down, I think replacing the breaker will fix the problem. Hope this helped Tim

Just got the unit from a friend and had to change the plugs from four to three and it turns on but there is no heat. the dryer is less than a year old and worked three days ago.

the only difference is the 4 prong has a ground wire,if you put the white in the middle, the red where it was before on one side and the black on the other side it should work.check the back of the dryer to make sure you have the correct voltage, with a meter set on volts, touch the white and red wire and you should have 110,then touch the white and black and you should have 110.if not you have a problem with a fuse in the fuse runs the dryer and another is for heat but if you have 220 or 240 in the back of dryer something is blown in the'll need to check out the thermostats and the heater in the dryer.let me know what you find.your vent line could be clogged with lint and popped the high limit thermostat on the heater box

Check to make sure that the thermal fuse is not blown. Small plastic piece with 2 wires coming off of it. Typically this is problem.

Dryer Stopped Heating

Use a multimeter to check the heating element. You can't always go by looks. Check continuity and if there is none, the element is defective. Another thing to check is the thermal fuse. It is about an inch long and is usually attached to the exhaust duct. Use the meter to check it as well and if defective, replace it. Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

I need to know how to wire the plug into the back of the dryer

Current electrical codes require a 4 wire hookup for all dryers. There needs to be a separate ground and neutral. If you do not know how to hookup the 4 wire version, it is worth calling an electrician to install the correct wires. If there is a problem down the line, the improper installation will invalidate your insurance claim. Dan

Maytag model MDE7057AYW 5600 Watts dryer runs ,but

5600 watts will not operate off 120 volts.
This is a 220/240 volt hookup.
There are 2 legs of 120 volts each that operate the dryer.
The only part requiring 220v is the heater.
Otherwise 120v routes through the various controls and relays.

If this is a gas dryer the MOST COMMON problem would be a thermal fuse usually located in the back of the dryer. you would have to remove the back panel their is only 9 screws securing it. The thermal fuse is going to be white with 2 wires and 1 screw . Unplug the dryer remove the wires from thermal fuse and put them together temporary using tape make sure metal ends make contact and they do not touch any thing else. plug dryer back in and turn on. if every thing works than replace the thermal fuse and clean out your duct
