SOURCE: I recently replaced my ignition

Your bypass module has to be reprogrammed if, you have the type that is programmable. If you have relays with inline resistors then they have to be replaced with new resistors. If the ignition switch was swapped out for a new switch, with a new key, the resistance is no longer the same. If the entire ignition harness was changed then the remote starter has to be re-installed at the switch(behind the radio).

I changed the battery in my 1998 Mazda Protege and now my remote unlocker/starter doesn't work. The red light comes on when i push a button, but no response from the vehicle. How do I fix this?

1. Locate the valet switch for your system. It's a small black push button, connected to a pair of wires that are gray and black. There's no telling where the installer placed it, or if he even left it connected. But if it's there and you find it:

2. Put your key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" or "run" position (not to "start").

3. While the key is on, press the valet switch once and release it, then press it again and hold it.

4. Press the "lock" button on the key fob.

5. Release the valet switch and turn the key off.

6. Test the key fob to see if it worked.

did you install a "gm remote start bypass", like DEI model 556L?
if not it is the passlock that is not allowing the car to start.
