Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop

Aircard Useage Hi, I tried a Verizon Aircard on my Laptop. After some frustrating activation isuues I was up and running. I tracked my useage and in a bit over 3 hours I had used about 250 Megs of Data. I was doing some streaming but even when it was "idling" it was burning a Meg per minute. I cancelled the service but still want Mobile Broadband and am wondering what the problem could be. Verizon had not a clue. TIA, Clark

I should have added this: Verizon had a "demo" on the counter with 3 monthes on the clock and it had used fewer Megs than I used in 3 Hours !!!

As long as you're connected, even at an idle, you will have some data transfer mostly just keeping the connection. It's also possible to get a data count by merely having the card in your machine and powered on, it searches and keeps a signal with a cell tower. All cell services are this way. If you don't want the expensive cellular service, you're other options are free wi-fi through your internal card, assuming you have built in wi-fi. The downside is that you have to find and go to a place that has free wi-fi, and rarely any privacy. Or a wireless router at home, but this confines you to your house. I know it's frustrating, but convenience is expensive.

My compaq CQ56-219WM (recently restored to factory settings) runs extremely slow and i get a constant "high CPU useage" message. how do i fix this please?

When Norton is active it scans the computer for viruses and this will slow the computer down until it finishes.
You computer will improve with more RAM especially if has 512Mb of RAM.

I bought my new Sony Vaio VPCEH last 2 weeks ago,. dual core, 2.3ghz, 4gb ram.. what i wondered is why my cpu almost overload all the time even i just use firefox, or explorer (opening folders ) or so

The CPU is runnimg with a useage of 45-60% as soon as the laptop has booted up because Kapersky is upgrading the virus definition file and is running a virus check on the files stored on the hard disk. When Kapersky has finished these tasks then you will see a drop in CPU useage.
NOTE as you install more programs and as your data files increase so will it take longer for Kapersky to carry out the virus scan.

Sprint Aircard 595/use with other laptop

No, this would be seen by the provider, Sprint and would be a lot of overhead to track each computer connected. It is too costly and Sprint may not provide the info, mostly just connected times. From what I remember, they are like a modem that dials a number. I am in IT (remote connectivity and security) and I have used Sprint and Verizon cards with many laptops myself. :) hope this helps.

I have an hp tx1205us laptop. one of the two dual

maybe. That's a lot of cpu useage. You didn't state the OS you are using. Is it Vista? That can be a cpu hog. Do a Ctrl/alt/delete and choose task manager. Click on the PROCESSES tab and you will see a list of all processes running. Click on the CPU heading once or twice and it will order all the processes based on useage. The top one should give you a clue as to what process is using the machine. Sometimes the browser running on a particular web site can just **** the machine to its knees. Anyway, that should give you a pretty good clue as to what is using up the cycles. You can then google on that process name if you wish to find out what it is doing. You could have some spyware running that is giving you trouble.
