We have an Aria Dry combi dehumidifier but no instruction book. Although the motor and fan work it is not producing any moisture. It says the filter should be cleaned weekly. Where is the filter?

I was looking for the filter in a de longhi dehumidifier. Your expert pointed me towards a company called respironics but they manufacture defibrillators etc, medical equipment, so weren't of any use.
One of my neighbours found the filter and we cleaned it. The machine is now working, all lights on, no warning lights, but is still not making any moisture. Can anothetr expert help?

Hi,

I see that you have found the filter and that has not helped....

There can be a few other things that can also cause it to not work right...

The temperature and humidity in the room can be a factor...

The compressor may not be working and the sound you hear is simply the fan running and to the compressor also...

the refrigerantion system may have leaked refrigerant and so the unit is not working...even though the compressor may be running...

the humidity sensor may be bad or out of calibration so it is not calling for the compressor to run...

the control board may be bad and causing the unit to not operate correctly...

Any of these things could be possible....finding the exact cause may be very difficult and time consuming...

Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

Esco Oasis 2700L dehumidifier ices up. Is there a filter to be cleaned and if so, how to I get to it?

Hi,

The most common cause of frost and ice buildup on a dehumidifier is because the unit is operating in temperatures that are too cold. Many dehumidifiers are not equipped to run at temperatures below 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
To fix this problem, Position the dehumidifier in an area where there is at least one foot of clearance around the unit in order to allow for proper air circulation during its operation. Close all windows, doors and other outside openings to make sure your unit isn't attempting to remove moisture from areas outside of the immediate room. Determine the temperature of the room by checking a nearby thermostat or by using a hand-held thermometer.

Check the filter for dirt and buildup. Unplug the unit from the electrical source and check the filter by opening the filter compartment. If the filter is dirty, it will restrict airflow through the unit and lead to freezing. Soleus recommends lightly vacuuming the surface of the filter to remove dirt. The filter also can be washed in warm water if it is extremely dirty. Once clean, place the filter back in its compartment. Allow for the ice to melt and then restart your dehumidifier.

Does not collect water in bucket but runs all the time

Does it have a filter?

"
It may be that the humidity level or temperature in the room where your dehumidifier is located is too low.

When the outdoor temperature is below 50 F, the indoor air will be dry even when the air inside is warm, therefore when it's cold outside the dehumidifier may collect little or no water.

Air conditioners will also remove moisture from the room, even if it's hot and humid outside, resulting in little or no moisture collecting in the dehumidifier bucket.

Some dehumidifiers have a deicer which turns off the compressor but keeps the fan running. When the compressor is off, moisture is not removed from the air. The deicer turns off the compressor when the room temperature is cold.

Some dehumidifiers do not have a deicer. If the room temperature is low enough, ice may form on the evaporator coil. The ice prevents the dehumidifier from removing and collecting water. If ice forms on coils, unplug dehumidifier until ice melts and room temperature rises."

No water is extracted into bucket. Motor is on - although don't feel any hot air coming out of unit

It may be just the fan motor running and not the compressor. Which, depending on what level you have the humidity extraction set on, may be the problem. If it's set to high, the fan is running to circulate the air. If the humidity sensor picks up a rise in the humidity level (higher than what you have it set on), the compressor will turn ON. Lower the setting to 32 or 35% and if the air intake filter is clean and not clogged, the compressor should turn on shortly thereafter. In addition, be sure to maintain at least 12" of clear air space around the entire unit.

Many times the higher settings are thought to be how much moisture will be extracted. When in fact, the opposite is the case.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Santa fe dehumidifier running but not producing any condensate. No ice forming on the coils and filter is clean.

You should check if the compressor is running. Your description makes it appear that the fan may be running and the compressor may not be running.

There are many things that can cause a compressor to cease running:

Open defrost thermostat
Bad run capacitor
Low refrigerant charge (caused by refrigerant leak)
Bad compressor relay
Bad compressor overload
Bad compressor motor

Other things to check:

If the fan switch is set to "on" and the humidity control is set to a high humidity level, the unit may appear to be running, but the compressor will not operate. Check the setting of your humidity control.

If the dehumidifier is operating in a room with a high temperature and a low dew point (very low relative humidity), it may be unable to remove any more moisture from the air.

If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the unit on your own, call the manufacturer service department at 1-800-533-7533, EXT 8459. They are very helpful.

Dehumdifier not collecting water.

If ice forms on coils, unplug dehumidifier until ice melts and room temperature rises.

The filter (on some models) may be dirty or clogged. If so, clean the filter. For instructions on cleaning the filter.

I hope this help to solve, if this answer solve it, remember to rate it. Good luck.

I need to know how to clean filter. Lost book

Hello,

follow the below instructions:

Turn off the dehumidifier machine and unplug it from the wall.

Lift the water bucket up and out of the dehumidifier.

Locate the filter located under the compartment that houses the water bucket. Lift the filter straight up and out of the dehumidifier.

Vacuum as much of the visible dirt and debris as possible.

Fill a sink half full with water. Place the filter in the water and allow it to soak for one to two minutes.

Wipe both sides of the filter with a wet sponge to remove any remaining dirt and debris. Rinse the filter with clean water.
Wipe the filter with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture. Allow it to air dry for approximately 30 minutes before inserting it back into the dehumidifier.
Good luck.
