While running on treadmill I got an odor of slight motor burn out. Then i got a code of FET and the machine shut down. After ten minutes i plugged back in and it would have operated but i didn't use. Is the motor likely burned out?

Here are some possible causes and solutions:

Overheating: If the motor or electronics of the treadmill get too hot, the machine may shut down to prevent damage. Make sure that the treadmill is placed in a well-ventilated area and that the air filters are clean. You can also try lubricating the walking belt to reduce friction.

Faulty speed sensor: If the speed sensor is malfunctioning, it may cause the treadmill to shut down. You can try cleaning the speed sensor with a soft cloth and see if that helps .

Worn walking belt: If the walking belt is worn or damaged, it may cause the treadmill to shut down. You can try replacing the walking belt and see if that helps.

Electrical issues: If there are any electrical issues with the treadmill, it may cause the machine to shut down. You can try resetting the circuit breaker or unplugging the treadmill for a few minutes and then plugging it back in.

If none of these solutions work, it may be best to contact Proform customer service.

Sounds like a motor or electrical system cooling problem. Could be dirt or blocked motor. Try Computer air blast can and or a vacuum to clean out motor and electronics.

1) Tess by RUN the sofware calibration for easy diagnose, troubleshooting and fix it.
2) adjust the speed sensor, test for open or faulty, clean it and tight the plug very well. see the diagram attached.
3) Test the inclination motor for overheating Try to LUBE
4) Lube the deck belt according with the schedule maintenance.

An E1 error code is a very broad code. It is important to know when the E1 occurs and what was being done when it occurred. An E1 code just means that the console is not getting a reading from the reed switch (Speed Sensor). If the running belt moves for several minutes and then produces the E1 error, this is most commonly a result of the running belt needing lubrication. The motor control board will shut down due to the motor pulling too much current, triggering a safety shut down. It is important to maintain a proper lubrication schedule for your treadmill. The lubrication frequency will vary depending on the model, please refer to the lubrication instructions in the owner's manual. When lubricating be sure to use a 100% silicone non-aerosol treadmill lubricant, applying 1-oz.
After lubricating the running belt, if you still continue to have problems or it returns after just a few weeks, the running belt may have become glazed. This is a term used that describes the pores on the underside of the running belt closing due to excess friction. When this occurs, the running belt can no longer absorb lubrication. In this instance you may need to replace the running belt as continued use can lead to damage of other components such as the motor and the motor control board.
If the running belt stops after 6 seconds of starting the treadmill, this may indicate that either the speed sensor needs adjusting/replacing or the main wire harness is damaged.
If there is no belt movement, or you notice a burning smell coming from the motor area, this may be an indication that the motor or motor control board has become damaged. Without lubrication, continued use can cause damage to the motor and/or the motor control board which may require replacing of these components. If needing to replace either of these components, it will likely be necessary to replace the running belt as well. Doing so will prevent friction from damaging the newly installed components or other components in the machine.

1) LUbe the deck belt, the lack of lube produce Shut down, by enough friction between deck vs deck belt
2) Lube the rollers bearing very well
3) Measure the input voltage motor, if there are the motor need repair
4) Measure the output voltage board, for input voltage motor, if there are Not the board is faulty.
5) Run the software calibration, for diagnose, and troubleshooting.

hi when you mean shuts down it that the power or just the belt, if everything including the power turns off then check the trip switch on the front of your treadmill, and if you are using an extention wire on a roll, please unroll the whole thing that can cause a short. and if you can smell any burning thats a sign that the motor and belt are either too tight and on they way out.

Fet error is caused by the drive component(s) on the motor control board going open circuit or faulty. This is caused by poor power supply or excessive friction on the running belt which in both cases leads to excessive heat build up in the control electronics.
The Motor controller will need to be repaired or replaced and the heat issue resolved.

FET error is caused by a short in the driver transistor on the motor controller. Unfortunately, the fix for this is to replace the motor controller.
