Press cursor-left (marked with a lightning bolt) to bring up the flash menu, then select the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it. For full details see the "Flash/Left button" section of the manual (begins on page 28 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy here.

SAMSUNG S860 Problem is Flash is not FUNCTIONING..

The camera may have a fault requiring professional service (probably not worthwhile unless you can get it done under warranty), HOWEVER, before you go there, check that you haven't put the camera into Macro mode. This is used for extreme close-ups and is represented by an icon of a little flower. When in Macro mode, the flash is disabled (also the camera won't focus well on subjects at normal distances).

Samsung S860 won't power on. light blinks green, will not start

I had a similar problem with this camera. although its likely you have damaged the camera (seek repair from authorised Samsung dealer. should have a 1 year warranty - although you may not be able to claim accidental damage) there is always a chance the batteries are stuffed. i spent hours trying to find out what was physically damaged before realising the AA batteries did not have enough CURRENT to support the camera. gave same symptoms. some new extra heavy duty batteries did the trick.

Worth a try before footing a large repair bill

Samsung s860 camera got dropped turns on but screen is only white

dropping the camera might have caused damage to your LCD screen, best advise I could give is to send it in for repair

check if you can still view old pictures or if the on screen displays are visible, it will narrow down if the problem is with the lens or the screen

hope this helps

The flash will not work on my Samsung S860 Digital Camera. It used to work and now it doesn't... I tried to go through the menu to fix it and it seems to say it is on? But, when you take a picture it does...

the S860 has three flash modes in which the flash only fires under certain conditions.
- in Auto Flash mode and Auto & Red Eye Reduction mode, the flash will only fire if the subject or background is dark; otherwise it won't flash.
- in Slow Synchro mode, the flash only fires when the camera's using a slow shutter speed.
if you have your flash mode set to any of these, the flash will only fire when the camera determines that flash is needed; otherwise it won't fire. to have the flash fire all the time and automatically vary its intensity according to how much light is needed, set the flash mode to Fill flash; to turn the flash off altogether (so that it won't fire no matter what), set the flash mode to Flash Off.
for all the details on the S860's flash modes, you can download the user manual here and refer to pages 28 and 29.
hope this helps...
