This is a situation that requires the keypad control board to be replaced. The part alone will be more than some microwave ovens.

Night light isn't dim

The problem is in the keypad control board, in order to address this, the assembly will need to be replaced, but since this is a dimming situation I would leave well enough alone when you consider price as the factor.

Problem with the GE Spacemaker (JVM1640SJ) Microwave Oven GE Spacemaker XL1800 won't heat food anymore....It worked this morning, now won't heat. What should I do?

GE Will replace the magnetron for 9 years! Mine is a 2004 model with a one year warrently according to manual. HOWEVER they did say the magnatron was covered for nine years: call 888-239-6832. When I called they said thats all they get calls for and would send out in 3-5 days. NO CHARGE. I had to ask if there was coverage longer than a year on major parts and that's when they offered the info and I eventually was transferred to the right office. Saved $120 bucks on parts alone.

Disassemble to clean

If it is a microwave, don't disassemble anything. Clean what you can inside the oven and leave the rest well alone. Outside that you are dealing with lethal levels of electrical voltage and doses of radiation. Even treat the door seal with care because that is designed to prevent radiation leakage. There are special microwave cleaners available in stores for cleaning the parts that need cleaning. For your own safety, do not touch anything else.

A dinner I was cooking in the microwave sprayed on the inside like an entire covering and I can't remove it.

Ahh, I hate when that happens!
Put a microwave safe bowl with about 3 cups of water in the microwave and heat on high for about 4 minutes or until boiling well. leave it sit for several minutes and then wipe out the inside of the machine with a damp cloth or sponge. You are not alone:)
