The agitator assembly can be removed usually by removing the stud that holds the agitator assembly to the drive shaft. Remove the agitator cap, the one that covers the top of the agitator assembly expose the stud under it. Remove the stud, usually 7/16", and the agitator assembly can be lifted out.

Hi

It seems that something is stuck and you'll have to remove the agitator to clean it. If this is an old style washer, then it should have a bolt under the cap that must be removed to remove the agitator, then grab hold of the agitator and lift up. If it's a not too old then the agitator just pulls out, remove cap, if no bolt, just grab hold and lift it up hard... see the picture. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

How to take agitator off

If the model number is correct, the agitator is removed by following these steps:

1. Using a flat blade screwdriver, pry up on the agitator center post cap and remove.

2. Under the agitator center post cap is a 7/16" hex bolt. Using a rachet and socket, remove the bolt and washer.

3. With the bolt removed, grasp the agitator on each side of the bottom flange at the bottom of the wash tub and lift straight up.

NOTE: Detergent can often leave soap deposits under the agitator and make it diffult to remove. You may have to rock the agitator from side to side a little to break it free.

If this is NOT your model number, please post back with your correct information. if you have questions, or need additional assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Vaccum cleaner belt change

If you've put a new belt on and you still are getting a rubber smell, then odds are that your agitator (the rotating brush) is not turning freely, and that means either (a) you need to remove the end caps and remove any hair / debris that is under those end caps, or (2) the bearing(s) of the agitator are bad. Depending on the model of the Sharp (which was not provided), you may be able to order just the defective bearings and replace them (or take the agitator to a vacuum shop to have them do it), or you can (or may need to) order the agitator assembly complete.

A button has gone under the agitator. will this harm the pump

Most top loader machines have some sort of fastener in the center at the top of the agitator. You should look right at it when you open the lid. Once you figure out how you remove the fastener, the agitator should pull straight up. It is usually connected by a spline. You may have to pull pretty hard if it has never been apart. Once the agitator pulls out, you should be able to see the debris you are looking for.
I am not familiar with your exact machine, but yours should be similar. Hope this helps.

Agitator not working properly

This is a fairly simple process. Just follow these steps:

1. Remove dispenser cap by pulling off.
2. Under the dispenser cap is another plastic cap with a washer. Pull this out to expose the agitator bolt underneath.
3. Using a socket and rachet (easiest method) remove agitator bolt and remove entire agitator by pulling from the bottom flanges and lifting straight up.

If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number, there's an excellent drawing of your agitator and components under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" heading. Use this as a reference for reinstalling any parts.

I hope this helps you. If you still require assistance, please let me know.

Changing out memory

On that model, the memory is under the keyboard.

Here is a good tutorial on disassembly:

Although this tutorial is for hinge replacement, you will see the memory under the keyboard in step 17.

From the sounds of things, you are talking about a front loading dryer. The agitators in the dryer can get coins stuck inside them. Remove the top and rotate the drum to reveal the screws which hold the agitators to the drum. Remove the screws and the agitators, empty the coins or other debris and reinstall.

The loud squeal sounds like the pad under the open side of the drum is worn out. There may also be a dry main bearing in the rear of the dryer. Lubricate the bearing and reinstall the drum. The squeal should disappear.

If this is not a dryer or a front loading washer, none of these suggestions will apply, Sorry
