SOURCE: Vision M not recognized

I'm having the exact same problem. My zen is 'charging' but isn't detected anywhere on my pc and I'd leave it charging for days but nothing happens. I've tried different usb ports, reinstalling the software several times but nothing. I recently reinstalled Windows and with my new pc my Zen cannot work on it for some reason?! I put previous files from my old pc onto my Zen hoping that I could transfer them onto my new Windows pc but I fear I've lost the data on my Zen completely. Arggh, any suggestions guys? Please..x

Imicro 3.5" sata ide hdd combo enclosure

Install unit into a another desktop with sata drives. Leave bootup configuration as is and then see if unit boots up and sees the installed drive as a slave. If so transfer the data over to the main drive. If the drive is really messed up it may not even allow the good hard drive to boot up; then you will not be able to even access the data on the bad drive and you may have to take it to a data recovery service - ouch (expensive).

Okay, what I would like to do is put a SATA HDD in my Dell B120. I know there are a lot of adapters out there, but will any of them allow me to make the transition from IDE to SATA? If so, can someone post...

You need this adapter:

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId=SY-BIR-IDESA-BP

This thing works with 3.5" IDE drives, 3.5" SATA drives, and 5.25" IDE and SATA optical drives. It does NOT work with 2.5" or 1.8" laptop hard drives.

Good luck; hope this information helps you; please remember to leave feedback, and thanks.

Can i upgrade a ide and sata drive on my compaq presario sr2010nx pc?

yes you can. i suggest using a program called acronius true image. add the new hard drive. be sure to turn on the sata or ide option in the setup bios. then use the true image software to clone your operating systems to your new hard drive. your source drive will be the original drive, and the destination drive will be your new drive. once the operation is complete , youll need to enter setup again and suggest that the new drive be your first boot device. just follow the on screen directions to complete the new setup. NOW... you can keep your old drive for a backup drive , or... you can format that drive and use it for a secondary storage drive. the hard drive can be accessed by my computer then open the drive and simply drag and drop or choose the drive from a save file drop down selection location popup window. this will allow you to save important files that can be accessed at anytime if your system main drive were to ever fail. another option you have is to place your old hard drive in a external hard drive enclosure that can be purchased via ebay and will allow you a large storage device that is mobile and hold mass data unlike a flash drive. this can be a very valuable tool and wont cost more than 20.00 here is a link for an ide hard drive enclosure with free shipping. if you need a sata enclosure, change the search results to (3.5 sata hard drive enclosure) the choose buy it now and choose PRICE+shippind:LOWEST FIRST. hope this was helpfull.

Don't know if you've solved this problem, but I was having the same issue using Windows 7, 64bit. It had been working but Explorer crashed & Explorer restarted, it recognized the device, but I couldn't access the files. I tried it on another laptop & it worked. So I left it plugged in & restarted the computer and that fixed the problem. If that doesn't work, you may have to uninstall the driver that windows automatically installed for it & then plug it back in & have windows reinstall the driver. Good luck.

I think the vnetbios.vxd error is because the PC once seen a network connection (LAN) which is no longer present. The only way I ever cleared this was to put the LAN card back (Once seen - NEVER forgotten - It seems). This however is not causing your CD problem! Try this and get back: -
  1. With PC off disconnect the CD from IDE.
  2. Re-boot and interrupt start up to go to BIOS settings.
  3. Ensure that your hard drive is the ONLY IDE device present and that it first device on first IDE and MASTER.
  4. Re-boot and allow 98se to start normally.
  5. Go to "Device Manager".
  6. If there is still a CD device present - delete it. If not - continue.
  7. Shut down the PC.
  8. Re-connect the CD and re-boot.
  9. Interrupt again and go to BIOS settings.
  10. Ensure that you have Hard drive as First device (Master on first IDE) and CD drive as second (Slave on first IDE).
  11. Re-boot and allow 98se to start normally.
  12. Try the devices now in "Explorer".
Best of luck! Ian.

It most likely will work, but the BIOS (might be too old) may not allow you to access the full capacity of the hard disk.
You would normally lose approx. 10% of the capacity when you format the hard disk.

New hard drive required for v20

The hard drive that is installed in the V20 laptop is a 30 Gb IDE capacity hard drive.
The smallest IDE hard drive that you can purchase today is in the order of 80 to 100 Gb capacity. The BIOS in the V20 may not be able to support a hard drive this large.
If you install a hard drive of this capacity the BIOS may not detect it or it won't allow you to access the full capacity of the hard drive.

There are several ways you can check if you have a working hard drive in your laptop.

1. Get into the BIOS configuration of your laptop, you may be able to see your laptop's configuration, and maybe even see your hard disk. This means your computer has been configured to work with the hard disk, but does not mean the hard disk is OK

2. If your laptop has a floppy disk attached then you can use a boot floppy disk and boot up in DOS. Then you can then run FDISK and then display the hard disk. If FDISK does not detect a hard disk the it is most likely dead.

3. If you can get access to a USB hard drive adapter cable or an IDE adapter cable that you can connect to a working computer's secondary IDE controller. THEN
Remove your laptop drive and connect and connect it to the USB adaptor or an IDE cable, (make sure you connect the drive correctly to the connector) then connect it to a working computer.
If you use an USB adapter, when you connect it to a working compute with XP or Vista operating system, and if the hard drive is OK then you will see the contents of the laptop hard drive.
If you connect the IDE cable to the secondary contriller and then boot up the working computer with XP or Vista operating system, if the laptop drive is OK you should see the contents of the laptop hard drive.
If you don't see the hard drive, then most likelt it is dead.

What the computer is trying to tell you is that the hard drive has gone faulty somehow... hard Drives can and do spontaneously fail all the time.. It probably shut down because it detected a serious fault with the hard drive. I think that at least you are going to have to try a new hard drive to see...
