I have a cuisinart dgb 650 series coffeemaker and the carafe top is partially clogged resulting in coffee spilling over the top of the canister. How can I disassemble the lid of the carafe to clean it?

I've had the same problem and solved it by washing the lid with my WaterPik. I put warm water in the WaterPik, turn it up to the highest setting and blast away all the grime, coffee grounds, sediment, and calcification. I do this right after decalcifing the coffeemaker and anytime someone goofs and causes the pot to overflow from forgetting to empty old grounds, or old coffee, or from carelessly placing the carafe under the brew basket valve. If it overflows from any of these causes and gets grounds in the lid it will likely clog the lid and cause it to overflow later from the clogged lid. After decalcifying the coffeemaker, the lid tends to get clogged with the gunk that you just cleaned from the coffeemaker. Using a paper filter while decalcifying may help keep some of the sludge out of the lid. If you use the goldtone filter like I do, you will find the lid may occasionally clog from the fine sediment that gets through the permanant filter. Works great for me and keeps my Cuisinart dripping like it should.

If you don't own a WaterPik, they're not that expensive and both you and your dentist will be pleased with your next checkup. Wish I had bought one years earlier than I did.

Unfortunately the lid is one unit. What you can do is try decalcifying the lid by soaking it in a water/white vinegar solution. If that does not work you might have to purchase a new lid.

I use 2 tabs of denture cleaner(you know the ones for fake teeth) in water and soak it over night. Works great to get out the coffee stain inside the craft too.

Coffee spilling out the sides of the carafe

I had a Mr Coffee that did that. It was running across the brew pause arm and making a mess. I discovered that the position of the carafe had a lot to do with it. If I brewed with the handle pointing out towards me, very little leaked out. I finally tore the brew pause arm off of the bottom of the brew basket. I works great and hey, I can wait ten minutes for a cup of coffee! However, if yours is new and doing this, I would contact the company and see if they'll make it good.

Coffee leaks all over the counter every time coffee is made. coffee appears to be coming out of bottom of machine Coffee pot lid is on correctly.

I had this problem after about a year of use. The thermal carafe lid had become clogged enough with coffee sludge (fine grounds/oil) and hard water deposits to slow the flow through the lid. I soaked the lid in a bowl of 2 cups hot soapy water + 2/3 cup white vinegar for a few hours, agitating the lid in the mixture every 1/2 hour or so.
Then, I rinsed the lid and packed baking soda in every opening and dropped it back into the mixture - hoping the fizzing action of the baking soda+vinegar would help loosen any remaining sludge.
I rinsed it again, and whacked it against the side of the sink for a final effort to loosen sludge. Repeated the baking soda + rinse + whacking a couple of times. No more problems.

In the future, I plan to do the soak at every Cleaning cycle/every couple of months.

Or, if you don't want to deal with it, replacement thermal carafe lids are available from Cuisinart for $6 + shipping.

Thermal carafe clogged

I was once able to disassemble the top of the carafe and clean it thoroughly. I've had these clogging problems before, and it has not been the filter chamber that is the problem, but the vent in the carafe being clogged. When the air from the inside of the carafe can't be displaced faster than the coffee is draining in, the coffee stops draining into the carafe, fills the top, and spills over the side.

Will probably end up buying a replacement lid, as I can't figure out how to open the top without destroying it. I must have gotten lucky the time I was able to take it apart.

Water is leaking from bottom of base.

I just had good luck pulling the grinder bottom piece forward while pulling directly up on the blade mechanism. Hope this helps.
