Do not forget to backup your phone’s data before doing a factory data reset. Here’s our guide.
Performing a Factory data reset restores your device to the original factory settings as it comes out of the box. It also deletes the data like installed apps, contacts, messages, images, etc. present on the internal storage. It does not, however, affect any data stored on the external SD card. Now here is how you can hard reset your LG G2/G3 from device Settings:
Tap the Menu key from Homescreen.
Select System settings> General.
Now scroll to PERSONAL.
Select Backup & reset option.
Tap Factory data reset> Reset phone.
Select Erase everything.
When the warning window prompts, tap OK.
Hard Reset LG G2 with Hardware Keys
If you unable to perform a factory data reset on your LG G2/G3 using the device settings for some reasons, you can try the hardware key method. Just follow the steps given below:
Turn off your LG G2/G3.
Now press and hold the Power + Volume down buttons simultaneously for about 8 seconds.
When the LG Logo appears, release and then immediately re-hold the Power button.
Release the Power key as soon as you see the ‘FACTORY HARD RESET’ screen.
Press the Power key to reset your device.
Press the Power key again to confirm factory data reset.
Wait till reset is done.
Boot LG G3 /G2 into Safe Mode
To fix an issue caused by a 3rd-party app, you can boot your LG G3/G2 into Safe mode and delete the suspect app. You can turn on Safe mode by following these steps:
If the device is frozen or unresponsive, try pressing and holding the Power button for about 10 seconds. This should force the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to restart normally.
A hard reset will set the device back to factory default settings and erase all data on the device. This is normally done when troubleshooting methods prove to be fruitless. 1. From the Home screen, select Apps in the upper-right corner. 2. Choose Settings. 3. Select Privacy. 4. Select Factory data reset. 5. Select Reset tablet. 6. Select Erase everything.
Access Recovery Screen at Boot
You can access soft and hard reset options from the Recovery Screen before you boot into Android. Just hold down the Volume Down button while turning the Galaxy Tab on. Hold it down until you see the menu.
This is the only way if you can't remember the password. Here's the procedure for resetting the device back to factory default:
Note: Performing this procedure will delete any content you have stored on the Reader.
1). With the reader off, using a paper clip or similar device, press in
and hold the Reset button on the back of the unit for 5 - 10 seconds.
2). Release the reset button and power on the reader.
3). While the reader is booting, press and hold both the Volume Up and
Mark Buttons. Continue holding until you see a screen asking you to
confirm that you want to reset the device back to factory default (Press
Button 5). Note: I had to hold down these buttons for about 60 seconds
to get the confirmation screen. Also about half way through this
process, you should see a blue light flash momentarily around the lower
left Page button.
4). After you have confirmed you want to set the device back to factory
default, the reader will turn off. Turn the unit back on and it will go
through its initial start up which takes a minute or two. Hope this helps, Thanks for using FixYa

Other way to release the lock is by holding down the letter L button and the Menu key at the same time. In this case the phone will not get reset, but the lock should temporarily release access to the menus. The function availability depends on settings. You can give it a try before resetting the phone.
