Question about Leica D-Lux Digital Camera

1 Answer

USB Device not recognized

I can no longer download pictures from my Leica D-Lux camera to my pc. I've tried different pcs and have the same results, that is, a message that the USB Device is not recognized and the camera is not recognized. Is there some type of setting on the camera that may have been changed or that I can change to be able to download pics? Thanks

If the camera has memory cards (sD or xD or MMC) you can download pictures on the memory card then use a memory card reader with your PC to copy them. memory card readers are cheep and should do the job.

Your 4GB card is an SDHC card. Is your card reader compatible with SDHC cards, or only with SD cards (2GB or smaller)?

Computer no longer talks to leica

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

My leica d-lux 3 has started to delete photos on its own.when i check playback a heap of photos are pitch black.can it be the camera or sdhc card?

Your post is confusing, are you saying that photos which were once properly exposed are now black, i.e. underexposed, or have they disappeared completely?? Neither is believable. It is to be the camera, unless the problem is that the camera can no longer read the card.I am afraid your information is not clear enough Take the card out and check what is on it in your computer or someone else's if you don't have one. Try a different card (preferrably a different make) in the camera, just take some random shots and see what happens. Please report back.

Do you mean iPhoto instead of iPhone? You can use a card reader to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import to iPhoto. typrice_54.jpg
