Question about Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver
I have just been through a similar problem through ingress of water into the device (They are not in the slightest bit water proof)
My device would power on, but only in the cradle attached to the usb and it would say the battery was fully charged after 4 seconds.
Any way, the battery can be replaced using the following method.
Take a decent, thin penknife and gently lever the top off the Garmin (follow the crease above the buttons). There are no catches to be aware of it is just lightly glued.
Once the lid is off you will be able to remove the two circuit boards (they just sit in there) and you will see the battery in the bottom of the case.
Unscrew the two small screw above the battery connections and you will be able to replace the li-ion battery which is in place.
I can provide images if that would be useful.
