You do not need to use the keys, all you need to do is use the mouse to click the various keys on the calculator screen.
To bring up the calculator, click on Start - Programs - Accessories - Calculator then use the left mouse button and click on the calculator keys.

Probably a keyboard option. Look under the Toshiba programs to see if there are keyboard options to not require the function key pressed. Lenovo Edge has a similar problem.

How to unlock keyboard on laptop

The first thing to check is if there is a key on the keyboard that does it. Laptop's tend to have a lot of functions that you activate by holding a function key (FN) and then pressing an appropriate key. Take a look at the keyboard and look for a key with an image that might signify locking the keys on a keyboard.

What are the names of kyboard and its keys ?

it is only for a computer keyboard hope it help from you.

A computer keyboard serves as a main operating tool for accessing and inputting data into a computer. The keyboard features many functions and keys that a user may never use, but is still essential to some users. Understanding the keyboard can improve computer knowledge and use.

QWERTY Pad

The "QWERTY" pad is main sections of letters on the keyboard. These letters are mainly used for typing and also as shortcuts in programs like Windows Movie Maker, Adobe After Effects and computer games.
Number Pads

The far right side of the keyboard features a number pad that resembles a calculator. This number pad is essential for programs like Excel, but can also be used to input numbers as a typing function. More numbers are just above the "QWERTY" keyboard that also feature symbols when the "Shift" button is used.
Arrow Keys

The right bottom of a keyboard features four directional arrow keys. These keys provide navigation through word processing documents and also serve as scrolling functions in web browsers.
F Bar

The top of a keyboard features the "F Keys," a selection of keys that extends to "F12" on most keyboards. These keys serve different functions. For example, "Alt and F4" exits out of a program. "F1" will start the typing helper in word processing programs.
Extra Keys

New keyboard feature shortcut keys at the top of the keyboard. These include shortcuts like "Power," "Sleep Mode," "Calculator," "My Computer" and "Web." Some also include media controls for movies and music.

Toshiba satellite - Letter "N"

First check to see if NumLock is turned on. This is usually indicated by a LED somewhere either above the keyboard or possibly at the front of the machine. If it is currently on, you will want to toggle it to OFF in order to type in your password. This is usually done by pressing the blue FN key located at the lower left corner of your keyboard, along with one of the function keys at the top of the screen. I believe on Toshiba laptops, this should be FN + F11, but check the keys themselves. Look for a blue picture, usually of a calculator. Holding the FN key down and then pressing this key should turn off NumLock and allow you to type the password.
Note: It is also possible that the 'N' key on your keyboard has gone bad. If this is the case, open the On Screen Keyboard, accessible through Start > All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access, and type your password using this.
I hope this helps!

Unlock function key

you can fix the problem by following the steps

  1. tep 1 Check the manual that came with your laptop and locate the section on the function of each keyboard key. Open your web-browsing program and navigate to the support section of the website if you do not have the manual that originally came with your laptop (see Resources below). Use the drop-down menus on the support page to choose the specific product line and then model of your laptop.
  2. Step 2 Click on the "Product Support" link and then navigate to the "Manuals" section of the page. Click on the link to open a PDF version of the manual for your laptop. Browse down to the section about the functions of the keyboard keys.
  3. Step 3 Find the sequence of keys you need to press to unlock the function key on your laptop and note them down. Press and hold the function key on the keyboard and then press the other keys required to unlock it.
  4. Step 4 Try using the most standard keyboard combinations if you don't have the manual or it does not give any information about the function key. Press the function key and then the shift key and see if it successfully unlocks the function key. Attempt using the other standard keys in conjunction with the function key, such as the "F11," "F12" and "Ctrl" keys.
  5. Step 5 Plug a USB keyboard into the USB port on your laptop if you have recently used an external keyboard with the laptop. Check the light above the "Numlock" key on the external keyboard and see if it is turned on. Press the key and make sure the light is turned off and then remove the keyboard to unlock the function key.
thanks

I just bought an Acer laptop andkeys are all different from desktop keyboard so wondering how I can find out what the keys are for without just hittin all of them. Are there specs available? Thankyou. Dee...

The symbols on the keys represent what will appear on screen

If the symbol is in blue that means you have to press the FN key over on the left side bottom row

Other symbols from the keyboard are typed by using the shift key

You can always buy a keyboard and plug it into the laptop if it proves to difficult

I cannot get the Qwerty Keyboard on my HTC Touch HD

Hi I just got this phone yesterday - its really awesome. I had the same problem - to change the keyboard just press the keyboard button on the bottom like you usually do to bring it up, then press the little up arrow next to that button. This gives you a selection of keyboards to use, they are much better as they are TouchFlo 3d keyboards.
