Did you set the boot order to CD drive in the BIOS? BIOS is what displays startup info. It is accessed usually by pressing Del, F2 or some other key (which is displayed).

You have to set the BIOS to boot from the DVD. For this you have to enter the BIOS setup.
There are different methods to enter the BIOS setup according to the BIOS type.
In most computers you have to press 'Del' key just after it's switched on.
In IBMs it's F1, some Dell computers it's F2 and with HP laptops it's usually F10.
Just after you switch on the laptop, close to the bottom of the screen you might see which button is to press to enter 'Setup' (i.e. BIOS Setup).
After you enter the Setup you have to change the Boot Order. Again how to do this depends on the type of BIOS.
Hope this answer will help you. If you want more help, let me know the brand of your laptop.

This problem can be happen if DVD ROM of laptop is not working or BIOS setting is not set for booting from DVD drive. If DVD ROM is not working then change it. Go to BIOS setting and choose first boot device as DVD ROM if it is BIOS setting problem. This can solve your problem. It is always good to buy licensed copy of OS and other software.

Thank you..

SOURCE: i can not add windows 7 in my laptop

There is no reason you can load Windows 7 on a Lennovo G580, all you need is a Windows 7 32/64bit Installation DVD with a Product Key. I assume you laptop has a 64bit compatible processor. The Support for your laptop: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT073548 Supports Win 7 and Win 8. Are you doing a downgrade?

When you saw "restart to load windows" are you restarting with a windows 7 DVD in the drive?
If so you may have to press F12 as it boots in order to invoke the boot menu and choose DVD as the temporary boot option.
Then follow the instructions for installing windows.

If you did not receive a DVD with purchase the recovery partition was on the drive which may have been wiped with active kill - you could order or borrow a DVD or install Linux.

Try pressing F8 whilst booting to get into safe mode, if this will not work your only option may be to restore to factory settings either from the hard drive partition or from a Windows 7 DVD.

Dell Inspiron 6400 doesn't boot past dell splash

The hard drive has failed, or windows 7 is not compatable with the laptop. Try installing vista, if this works! there is a problem with windows 7, no change! have the hardware checked for possible replacement.

My laptop getting slow and slow.. how do i reformat my computer??

Just get an Operating System CD/DVD, you want to format with, place it in your CD/DVD drive and make a computer reboot. When the computer will restart, during the pre-booting process, it will show "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD". Now press any key to start the formatting process (But before that, be sure, you have CD/DVD boot option ON in the BIOS settings).
Now follow the on-screen instructions. That's all.

For more details how to format Windows 7 from CD/DVD, read this section: http://howtoformatacomputer.com/format-windows-7

If you are willing to format Windows 7 from USB Drives, you may want to read this section: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/

NOTE: If booting from CD/DVD is disabled in your BIOS and you don't know how to enable it, please let us know by commenting over this reply.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay

Hi Keith,

You can easily install the Windows 7 in your computer after checking and ensuring the system requirements. You can insert the Original Windows 7 OS in your drive and reboot your notebook; this will make your notebook boot from the DVD. Follow the installation wizard and after the installation, enter the product key and then register the product at the Microsoft website.

For additional information please follow the steps below.

1. Hook up the hard drive, then insert the install DVD, and boot from the DVD to start the installation.

2. Boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Turn on your computer, insert the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive, and then shut down your computer.

3. Restart your computer and then keep on tapping the F12 to enter the boot menu.

4. Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM/DVDROM or USB CDROM.

5. Press any key when prompted, and then follow the instructions that appear.

6. On the Install Windows page, enter your language and other preferences, and then click Next .

-If the Install Windows page doesn't appear, please repeat step 3.

7. Once your on the Please read the license terms page, click I accept the license terms , and then click Next .

8. On the Which type of installation do you want? page, click Custom .

9. On the Where do you want to install Windows ? page, choose the partition that you want to install Windows 7 on, or click Unallocated Space if no partitions are listed, and then click Next .

10. If a dialog box appears saying that Windows might create additional partitions for system files, or that the partition you chose might contain recovery files or other types of files from your computer manufacturer, click OK .

11. Follow the instructions to finish installing Windows 7 , which include naming your computer and setting up an initial user account.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Usually this error occurs because there are some files missing from your operating system's directories. I would suggest using a Windows 7 DVD that has the operating system on it. You can put that in the CD drive and then the repair option should work. If you don't have a Windows 7 DVD, you may have to buy one. If there is important data on your hard drive, avoid reformatting it. If you're ever asked to format, say no. The following link is the cheapest Windows 7 DVD I could find, but you may want to shop around. hello, try these steps to fix the problem.
  • Insert your Windows 7 DVD into your optical drive(DVD drive) and restart the system.
  • Boot using this DVD by pressing any key when windows asks "Press any key to continue..".
  • Select your language in the first screen and click "Next".
  • In this Window, select the option named "Repair your computer".
  • This tool will search for the installation directory for a minute.Once it finished, click "Next" once again.
  • Under Recovery Tool, choose the option named "Startup repair". Now,Windows will try to repair your startup problem and gives a message to restart your system.
  • Restart your system to finish the process.
