Hope u fixed this by now but I had a hum also and tracked it down to the cable box as found a site which told me to unplug the coax cable from the setup box and see if the hum stopped and it did. However after trying their suggestions and was gonna get a transformer went to my receiver I had used a dig coax for sound from the mot box to my receiver, pulled that cable and the hum stopped, replaced it with a toslink cause I had one laying around and have the receiver inputs for it end of hum for good so one more thing to try if your connected that way but it was definitely cable related.

Humming sound cumin from my creative inspire 4.1 woofer

Make sure that you've fully pushed in the jack to the sound card.....maybe you've not connected the jack into the correct socket on your soundcard as there are usually 3 identical sockets...but only 1 is the correct one. Sometimes colour-coded green. Try it in each one in turn. If you have headphones, try plugging them in as you will hear sound in them when you've got the correct socket!

My Velodyne DPS-10 subwoofer hums when you plug in the RCA cable. The hum increases in volume when you touch the rear metal panel.

hi,
You have to check the RCA cable to the sub woofer. The RCA cabe have two connections inside it, one is for gain and the other is for ground sheild. If the ground sheild is broken then there will be hum from the sub woofer and it will increase if you touch the ground (rear metal pannel is connected to the ground). Replace the cable and check it again.
ok

Sir i have 4.1 creative inspire woofers. before some times it plays nicely with 5.1 creative sound card .but one day i played my system to listen a song then i heard hummming noise is comming from woofers...

Any faulty cable without ground used for analogue signals will give rise to the humming noise. If you are finding it difficult even after changing such cables, check the earthing of your PC with the mains outlet. Remove the card, clean the pcb contacts with an eraser & check.

No sound comingout now on my HT BD2T subwoofer, just humming.

Try reconnecting; then replacing the audio cable for the sub woofer. I think it is just a standard RCA cable.

When you disconnect the RCA cable does the sub woofer still hum? If so the sub woofer may be bad. If it falls silent chances are it's just the cable.

Sub woofer has a hum

I have found that with other appliances running, or a busy circuit, I have the same problem. Try to turn everything else in the house off and check again....A/C are often culprits. You can buy a line isolator for the plug, although they are just more money to spend. If this doesn't work, well, it could be a crappy home theaater receiver. It happens

Sub

Most amplified sub woofers need to be grounded to the output source. If you plug the sub woofer in to the receiver you would use a ground wire from the receiver to the sub woofer there should be a ground terminal on the sub woofer and receiver.

Humming in woofer

A wiring diagram could be difficult if not impossible to find but you should'nt need one anyway.

You're correct in saying it's most likely a filter cap in the power supply, of which would be a larger electrolytic cap that may even display signs of being faulty. Look for leakage of crusty brown stuff on the end where the rubber seal and leads are, or possibly the other end, shrunken plastic skin, bulging or other signs of over heating. Replace any you find that have visual signs of failure.

Sometimes you cannot tell by looking if a cap is bad but it would'nt cost that much to replace the larger ones in there anyway. Open up the unit, write down the electrolytic cap values
you find, go buy replacements and replace em.

You're hearing 60 cycle hum so the filter(s) you need to replace will be quite large physically and have a fairly high micro farad value....such as 1000, 1500 or 2200.

When buying replacements, get as close to the micro farad rating as possible and buy at least the same voltage rating, or higher. Be sure to solder them in correctly, there is a negative and positive lead and you dont want to get those reversed or....
BOOM!
