Do you have soud? if you do go to control panel. click on sound and check "place volume icon in taskbar. If you don't have sound. Go to dell website under downloads and download and install the latest sound driver for your specific computer and operating system and it will, 9 times out of 10 place the speaker back in the taskbar for you.

Check to see if you a speaker icon in the lower r/h side of the task-bar down by the clock.
If the icon is not there right click on a blank area of the task-bar and left click 'properties'
Left click 'customize'
Scroll down to 'Volume' and select 'Show icon and notifications "
Click 'OK'
Close the 2 properties pop-ups.
Right click on the speaker icon and select 'playback devices'
The 'sound' pop up will appear showing whatever you have connected ( speakers or headset etc)
Make sure the speakers are set as default if you have more than one sound device connected.
The speakers should have a green tick (check ) when they are ready to use
Right click on the speaker icon and select 'Open volume mixer"
Check that the volume slider is above 50% and the speakers are not muted (shown as a red no-entry sign on the speaker icons at the bottom of the sliders' If muted click on the slider speaker icon.
Right click on the speaker icon and select 'playback devices' Put the cursor on the blue graph to the right of the icon, right click and select 'test' All being well the computer speakers will respond.

How can I recover the sound on my facebook page?

If this is a laptop and you have something connected to your headphone jack it will disable your internal speakers. You can also take a look at the Playback Devices settings. Right-click the speaker icon in the lower right of the task bar and select playback options. Click on the output device you wish to choose and click Default to make it permanent.

Can't get sound to work

Which OS are you using. Anyhow on the task bar see if the speaker icon is crossed, if yes click on it and deselect mute. If not seen then press left arrow on the task bar, you will find speaker icon, unmute it.
See whether the speaker connection is properly plugged into the green socket marked Output.

goto start bar and then settings goto controll panel and left click the speaker icon, the sound properties window should open, there should be a tick box marked up mute, uncheck this box, there should be another box saying put an icon in the task bar, click on this when you have a tick show click apply and close the window, you should now have sound and a speaker icon on the right hand side of the bar at the bottem of the screen, hope this helps.

How can I stop my x-530 speakers popping?

Hello,

Right click on the task bar --- then select 'properties' ----- In the task window, click on the 'Customize tab' ----- Now select the icon for your X 530 Speakers and set its status as 'always hide'.

This should avoid the popping up of the speaker icon.

Please let me know if this does not work for you.

Regards,

My polk audio speakers from a prior hp computer are very, very quiet on my new compaq system. what can i do?

The audio setting in your new computer is set to low level. Right click on the speaker button at the right hand bottom corner of your task bar,Then open the volume control from there. push the slider up in the volume control and also on the wave. You can push the slider up for the CD player as well as PC speaker also if any of these are also kept at a low level. If you do not have a speaker icon in the task bar, open control panel,(click on start and you will see the control panel selection, double click on it) and double click on sound and audio devices. Under device volume, push the slider from low to high. while you are here you can click on "place volume icon in the task bar" You can also click "advanced" and select the appropriate speakers here, like desktop stereo speakers or surround sound or whatever suits your speaker. click ok to save this and that is it.
