I am trying to use the vhb 4941 to adhere a magnet to the dashboard of my car. I have used isopropal alcohol and denatured alcohol to clean the dash but I still cannot get the tape to stick. Any suggestions?

Try using contact cement. Apply to both surfaces and ALLOW TO DRY. Next time the pieces touch, they will stick, so place VERY carefully...Another material is weather strip adhesive. works the same. Consider masking tape to keep mess to a minimum.

and you can use water base contact, it works as well or better than the old tar like stuff.

Water gone in my lenovo 450 model laptop, whta i wnt to do to repair it , how much cost it will take.

Welcome to FixYa! Based on your question, Lenovo does not cover water damage when it comes to warranty. The cost will depend on how damaged your laptop is(a friend of mine paid $256 due to hardware parts of the laptop needing to be replaced) and I suggest bringing it to a licensed computer technician to avoid unnecessary spending.
I use denatured alcohol (not rubbing alcohol, Denatured alcohol.) If you have any signs of corrosion then you should wet your board with the denatured alcohol then use a tooth brush to clean it. Thats what I do and most of the time it fixes it. Aside from that you could seal the pc in an airtight bag with some rice. The rice will **** up the moisture. Hope this helps. Thank you for using FixYa!

I have a VCR dvd combo... the volume on the VCR is starting to sound muffled and real hard to understand, but the dvd player volume is good. How do I fix the volume on my VCR?

If the picture is good and the sound is muffled, try running a VCR head cleaning tape through the machine, This will clean any build up from the magnetic tape used in VCR tapes and should be ran on a regular basis. If this don't fix the problem, try using a long Q-tip with denatured alcohol on it to clean the tape heads, these are easy to see once you lift the tape door, clean everything the tape comes in contact with, you can use isopropol alcohol if that is all you have but be sure to let the unit dry before plugging it back in to avoid a fire. I hope this helps, Good Luck.

I have been told to use denatured alcohol to clean the quartz sink. How is it diluted...what is the ratio to water? Thank you.

Denatured alcohol is only necessary for cleaning stains which are difficult to remove from your quartz sink, such as ink, oil-based stains or paints, etc. These stains should be dealt with immediately by scrubbing with a cloth dampened with denatured alcohol (undiluted).

Expecially difficult stains can also be dealt with by filling the sink with a highly diluted organic cleaner such as bleach and let stand overnight, however this method only recommended for well ventilated areas for obvious reasons.

Normal day-to-day cleaning can be managed with warm water, a liquid detergent and a soft cloth.

We bought this model, I removed and cleaned the metal colums, and now a red light stating the unit needs cleaned stays on and the unit does not work. I swapped the metal part with another unit that was...

There is dirt on the inside of the unit. Remove the metal plates and turn unit upside down and gently shake to release the dirt built up in the bottom, also check metal contact near the base of the unit. If it isn't clean the machine cannot make the magnetic connection necessary for operation. Use a q-tip and 91% Isopropal Alcohol NOT rubbing alcohol. This should get your Ionic Breeze going.

My xbox keeps saying open tray and won't read any discs...help please!!

First thing to try is use a cd/dvd lens cleaning disk. These can be found at any major electronics store. You can also try cleaning the laser lens with a q-tip and a dab of isopropal alcohol. Try resetting the system. Make sure your system is away from any magnets (house speakers)

How to clean the laser

The laser it's self isn't what you want to clean - it's the lense. I recommend purchasing a CD laser lense cleaning kit from Best Buy. Usually the cleaner looks like any other disk, but it has a small cleaning cloth on it. You load the disk into the machine as you would any CD and the CD player tracks the laser and reader assembley to the position where the small piece of cloth is. As the cloth passes, it wipes the lense clean.
If you must clean the lense manually, I suggest using a Q-Tip and some isopropal rubbing alcohol. Dip the Q-Tip into the isopropal alcohol, and then press the swab of the C-Tip against the inside of the alcohol bottle to remove any excess alcohol from the Q-Tip so you don't have excess alcohol drip down into the laser assembley. CAREFULLY, GENTLY wipe the lense with the Q-Tip, using circular motion. After about 15 - 20 passes with the wet end of the Q-Tip, turn the Q-Tip around and wipe the lense with the dry clean end of the Q-Tip to remove any excess alcolhol and to prevent any residue that may accumulate as a result of the alcolhol drying. Again I stress being gentle because the lense rides in a magnetic field as part of it's focusing function and if you press the lense down too hard, you will damage the focusing coils and the unit will no longer be able to focus onto the disk and won't be able to read anything. Just be gentle, and good luck.

Orbital sander flicking the sand paper off

You did not specify how the sanding discs are meant to be attached to your sander's backing pad.  My experience with this type of problem is material from the sanding process builds up on the backing pad and does not allow the sanding discs to adhere properly.  If you have a velcro type system, clean the hooks on the sander's backing bad by soaking the pad's face in a plate of paint thinner for 20 to 30 minutes then use a wire brush to remove the rest of the paint physically.    For adhesive pads clean the sander's backing pad surface with denatured alcohol.  Do not use isopropryl or rubbing alcohol as this may not be 100% alcohol and could contain a lubricant like glycerin.  When the sander's backing pad is completely dry and clean it will hold adhesive backed pads fine.    Flaky paint is best scraped off before sanding, use a wide putty knife or a paint scaper to remove large flakes before sanding.  This will minimize airborne dust and cleanup.    For best results with adhesives, always keep your surfaces  clean!    Good luck and happy sanding!  Michael Mittelsdorf
