hello,
this is becoming such a huge issue for many people with vista, the manufacturers just couldnt put out drivers fast enough, many only current to xp. Here is link that may help, http://tech.epson.com.au/downloads/product.asp
what you want is not possible. the Epson Stylus Photo 1290 does not use sublimation ink. it is strongly advised to only use genuine Epson ink to keep the print quality of your print head as high as possible.
Joy:
Once more have the printer to perform the ink nozzles cleaning.
If you are using a ontinuos ink system, place it at the same level than that of the printer.
With the printer in the "replace carrtidge position", put it OFF and by hand, clean the place at which the cartridge rest.
Good luck and merry christmas

This happens to me very occasionally. Shut down the computer completely, unplug the usb cable from the computer and reinsert. Unplug the usb cable from the printer and reinsert. Switch on the printer. Start up the computer.
This is a maintenance request. Basically the internal counter has hit it's limit and now requires that the counter is reset and the ink pads are replaced or cleaned.
Ask at http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com if they do a Rescue Kit for your machine. This should include all the goodies you need to get running again. If they have no kit for machine, let me know as I may have an alternative.
