Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a Canon PIXMA MP780. Problem being when printing photographs the final result is covered in horizontal lines. Have gone through all cleaning procedures, changed cartridges all to no avail. local repairer advises must be the printer head which is expencive, cheaper to by a laser printer. He advises that the MF8050CN is the replacement for the above unit and prices at Aus$850.00. Is this correct abd can you make any other suggestions as to the possible problem . Thankyou, Chris R Carrington

Printer creates horizontal lines across paper that are either blank (no ink) or skipping/sliding looking blurring and distorting the text in that spot. This has been going on for a month. Changing...

The print-head is like a paint-brush -- brush sideways across a white-coloured wall, and you should get a wide "band" of paint. If only half of the paint-brush has paint on it, then only half of that "band" on the wall will get painted, leaving a horizontal strip of white showing through.

So, launch the Canon software that is installed on your computer, and run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles, to unclog those ink-jets that are _NOT_ shooting the ink onto the paper.

I am scanning a photo. I have translucent lines running horizontal through the picture before i print it.

Documents scanned/copied from the document feeder pass over a thin glass area where scanning occurs. Clean this area if sent faxes, copies or scans have black or white vertical lines.
  1. Lift the document cover to expose the platen glass.

  2. Wipe the ADF scan area (C) with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water.

  3. Then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth making sure there are no residues left, especially on the platen glass.

  4. Close the document cover and make a copy of a text document to confirm the black line has disappeared.
