Connection I bought a Linksys wireless-G 2.4GHz router two years before. In these days, the CP can't connect to the web when I using the router. Does that mean the router is broken?

I bought Linksys El000 How do I connect to X Box?

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router. You will needthe name of your wireless network ( SSID) and the wireless network key or passphrase.
You are using E1000 router. This is new series of routers from Linksys.
If you are using the security type WPA/WPA2 mixed then use only the WPA personal and TKIP.
now go to X-box and try to connect to the wireless.

Wireless Network Reset and Setup - Linksys

If you are unable to connect your laptop wireless to your Linksys wireless access point/router, the easiest and fastest way to get going is to reset your router to the factory defaults. This will make your router work like the day you bought it.

There are 2 steps involved Reset your router, Setup/Secure a new router

Reset your router:

  • Unplug your DSL/Cable modem from power (not your access point/router) Leave this unplugged for now

Next
  • On the rear of your Linksys router you will find a small RESET button
  • With the power still on the router, Press and hold (with a pin/pen tip) the RESET button for 30 seconds.
  • Release the RESET button a wait 15 seconds for the router to reboot

almost done....
  • Unplug your Linksys router from power
  • Plug your DSL/Cable modem back in to power
  • Wait 1 minute for the modem to boot up
  • Be sure the ethernet (cat5) cable from your modem is securely plugged into the WAN port on the back of your Linksys router. This is usually labeled WAN or Internet above the jack
  • Plug your Linksys router back into power.

You will now be able to connect to the internet with your wireless device. I would advise that you follow the next steps in securing your wireless network.

Setup/Secure a new router

Log into your router
  • Type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and hit enter
  • In the login fields (case sensitive):
  • Username: leave_this_field_blank
  • Password: admin
  • Click OK

Once in the web interface for your router
  • Click Wireless tab - Basic Wireless Settings
  • Find the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field
  • change this to your new network name (this is the name you will see when you connect through your wireless device)
  • Find the Wireless Channel field
  • Change this from 6 (default) to 1 or 11

  • Click on Wireless Security
  • Find the Security Mode field
  • Choose WPA2 - Personal
  • WPA Algorithm choose AES
  • WPA Shared Key type in your new password you will use to connect to your network

Click Save Changes and your router will now reboot. You will now need to enter in that same password (WPA Shared Key) when you first connect with your laptop to your wireless network

Keep losing connectivity

What kind of adapter do you have? I was so sick of resetting the thing daily, that I just went and bought another router.

Linksys wireless router has many bugs: connection issues like no connection or constantly having to reset the router. It isn't compatible with many network adapters2.gif. Hope this helps!

No wireless connection

Try updating the firmware, if the problem still persist. The antenna of the router must be the problem.

I cannot connect a new lap top to our wireless router

There's no special settings actually in adding another notebook to your wireless network. You can add up to 32 wireless clients on your wireless network. You will see a wireless network icon at the system tray by the clock, just click that and you will see the list of available networks. Choose your network and click connect. That should do it.

Try reconfiguring the Linksys router. Click on this link for instructions on how to configure the router with a cable Internet connection.
http://www3.nohold.net/noHoldCust56/Prod_6/KnowledgePortal/KPScripts/amsviewer.asp?docid=4da24a60bfc84fe9ad65ce672b4b8b52_KB3686_EN_070208_v1.xml&amsstatsid=4067617

After configuring the router and if you already have an Internet connection, then connect your second computer to any numbered port of the router (port 1,2,3, or 4) and test the Internet connection.
Configure the wireless settings of the router by following the steps on this link.
http://www3.nohold.net/noHoldCust56/Prod_6/KnowledgePortal/KPScripts/amsviewer.asp?docid=2f99c35863934424a932742692a5e83b_KB4024_EN_070329_v1.xml&amsstatsid=4067626

If you want to have a wireless security for your network, you may clck on this link for instructions.

Then try connecting your wireless computer to the name of your wireless network and enter the security key (if you have created one).
