Open the front door and slide the blue plunger back, This open the door on the right hand side. There is a cleaning swab inside. Slide it in and out 6-10 times and then try to print. You may have to do this a few times, but it does help.

How do I get rid of vertical streaks?

You may have a bad drum cartridge. Is it refilled? Try replacing it with brand new original.

If there are debris of "black film-like material" you may need to replace your fuser film.

The printout from my HP 2600n has serious toner streaking. The repair centre said that I have to replace all cartridges. Is that the right thing to do?

streaking is usually caused by crud build up on the drying drum. it you have done two sided printing, sometimes the toner ink can get on the drum, you have to take the drum out and clean it.

According to the HP Service manual, there is no 54.18 error.

The listed errors are:

Check the fuser. See 50.X fuser error.
54.3 Image density sensor error
Check the connections. Replace the color registration detection assembly.
54.5 Colour registration sensor error
Check the connections. Replace the color registration detection assembly.
54.6 Image density error

54.7(Y), 54.8(M), 54.9(C), or 54.10(K) Drum phase sensor error
Check the connections. Replace the drum phase sensor for the indicated color.
54.11(K), 54.12(C), 54.13(M), or 54.14(Y) Toner sensor error
Check the connections. Check the cartridge and replace it if necessary.
Replace the color registration detection assembly.
54.19 Transfer Belt error
Check the ETB connection. Replace the ETB. Replace the DC controller.

It is most likely that you have a faulty Toner Cartridge.

Dell 3100cn printer leaves a blank strip

The following table should help

Contamination in the laser path - 1. Clean the laser path. (Remove the laser/scanner assembly and clean the lens.) 2. Replace the laser/scanner assembly

Defective fuser - Replace the fuser assembly.

Lack of toner or faulty toner cartridge - Redistribute the toner in the toner cartridge. If the problem continues, replace the toner cartridge.

Dirty Corona Wire - Clean the Corona Wire.

Defective Drum - Mostly applies to B&W printers. Clean the drum or replace the drum.

Copies are streaked, drum covered with toner

What kind of printer? It sounds to me that it might actually be the Fuser. Drum Kit's are fairly easy to replace if that is your issue, just order it and follow the guide. Fuser's are trickier and usually require a technician unless you have lots of patience and a good memory of where things fit back together... My experience, though, depending on printer make/model is that the streking is caused by a torn Fuser.

Black lines and smudges on paper

Laser printers work by creating latent images on a rotating, light-sensitive drum and then attracting toner to exposed points on that drum. If any point on the drum’s light-sensitive surface is damaged, you may notice that toner is always attracted to that point, thereby transferring to the final page and appearing as a repeating mark. Because the drum is a cylinder, such marks will appear at equal distances down the page, corresponding to each rotation of the drum (maybe every two inches, for example).

The only solution to this problem is to replace the drum. For most low-cost home printers, the drum is part of the toner assembly and is automatically replaced each time you install a new toner cartridge (which explains part of the cartridge’s high cost). More industrial-strength laser printers place the drum on a separate EP (electrophotographic) “engine” that can be replaced in just a few easy steps. Check your printer’s documentation and replace the appropriate assembly (or have someone do it for you), and the repeating marks should go away.

Kindly regards,
micromaster

Streaking

Hi there it will be either the drum unit for the color streaks you are getting or the fuser unit. Check the drum units for the streaks on them also check the fuser but the clue is when you have the streaks in different places. Most likely to be the drum units. You will need to replace.

Thanks J

Consistent, faded and streaking vertical lines across entire page, from top to bottom.

Toner issue getting to drum - use gen toner cart.

or Drum blade stuffed (lines are down page fro top to bottom- replace drum assy

Drum has been exposed to light faint or blank across copies repeated 4 times down page - replace drum assy

or upper fuser roller stuffed, down page, smudgy print -  replace fuser

LSU(laser) or boards rarely cause issues

Printing CMYK dots twice on every print

Hi, As it's printing two little strips (like a 1/4inch) of CMYK dots (one of each color all you need to check the toner cartridge drum, try to wipe the toner drum with a damp cloth on each color cartridge. Secondly check the fuser assembly drum if it has any mark on the drum, try to use a mild isopropyle alchohol to wipe the dirt mark them try printing. this will resolve the issue. if still issue persists then change the color cartridge one by one. This will definitely resolve the issue.
