First, make sure you have the bobbin placed correctly in the bobbin case. There should be a diagram showing the correct placement and thread path. Your upper tension should be set at "3." Then be sure the needle is inserted correctly...the groove should be toward the front of the machine. And just to be sure, recheck the upper threading. Sometimes one missed little thread guide will cause the problem you're describing. I hope this helps and that you can get your machine running again!

Thanks Lyprice for your reply...unfortunately my problem is not solved yet. Problem is that the string on the bottom part is still loose and gathering ...the upper tension you talk about is the knob up the top, right? coz i set that to 3 and re-threaded and checked the bobbin bobbin case, but still didnt work.

This is my mums sewing machine and i am trying to fix it for her. Do you think there is another problem with it?

Yes, there could be other problems. The bobbin tension might be too loose.Generally you'll find a tiny screw in the bobbin case and this can be turned ever so slightly to tighten the bobbin thread tension. Did you check to be sure the needle is inserted with the long grooved side facing toward the front of the machine? If none of these suggestions make it run correctly, you probably need to take it to a professional. One last check, however, is to be certain the bobbin thread was wound tightly. If it is a "bad fill" and the threads are loose this could cause the bobbin thread to be loose. Let me know if I can help any further,

Hi, I have a singer confidence 7470 sewing machine and the needle keeps hitting the bottom of the bobbin. I need to know how I can adjust the needle.

Try a brand new needle. If the old one is bent, that could be why it is striking. If the new needle doesn't resolve the issue, the machine most likely has a timing issue. You can search for multiple web sites and videos for discussions and instructions for sewing machine timing issues. Or you can take it for service.

I have a singer confidence 7470 and I have had it since March. I last used it on Monday and it was working just fine. Today I plugged it in and it won't turn on. I don't know what to do..

It should be under warranty, take it to where you bought it, if after trying a different electrical outlet, and making sure that the cord is plugged in correctly, it still does not turn on, You could have a defective cord.

Bottom thread too loose; tried rethreading top thread, cleaning bobbin case, refilling bobbin, changing needle, adjusting top tension

Check for correct bottom thread tension.
It's provided by a flat spring on the bobbin holder.
When the bobbin is correctly installed, pulling on the thread
should meet with slight resistance, and the bobbin should spin without
trying to jump out of the bobbin holder.

SINGER CURVY: It jammed while sewing felt. Taking apart the bobbin area, I can see that the needle hits the bottom of the "floor". The bobbin is not catching or moving.

I think that your should try a new needle, it may be bent or have burr on it. It problem persists call Singer at 1-800-4singer, good luck
