Question about Bell Microproducts Hammer Z-Box HZD4B-1000 (HZD4B1000) 250 GB Network Storage Server

My hammer storage Z-BOX HZD4B is showing firmware .0.0.38 as oppose to 1.7.1. Is there a way to upload the new firmware even though I can not access the device using ftp, http, https or ssh?

That obviously was my first solution. After three months of calling and email without getting a response, I gave up. There support is non responsive. Any other ideas?

(Keep in mind that I can ping the IP address of the device). I have the updated firmware stored on my desktop. I downloaded it from the hammer website. The way it suppose to work is like this. I have a few options to connect to the device via IP address. The first is HTTP which runs on port 80. When I enter the IP address of the hammer device it says failed to load page. What I'm suppose to get is a login credential asking me for user name and password. That does not happen. Now, as far as https which is port 8080, that also does the same thing. No page to display. When using ftp which is port 21 I get the same results. This is a linux device so I even tried using ssh which is port 22, that too fails. So somewhere along the line this firmware that's showing 0.0.38 was never updated with even the basic firmware version. So what I'm trying to find out is if none of the ports are sending a request is there another way to upload the firmware using any other utility? I believe if i'm able to upload the firmware this will fix the issue.

IF you are able to get the firmware, it will update the device through its own programming. The problem is that it appears that Hammer Storage is gone! The website is not present. If you want to see about getting the firmware, I would try driverguide.com or some other third party software company that might have the firmware stored somewhere.

Sorry to hear about the manufacturer not getting back to you at all. So basically you have a firmware dead box - firmware update failed? There is probably some secret way to perform emergency recovery my Buffalo linkstation nas has such a feature. But I'm not familiar with this nas.

It looks to me like the manufacturer is the only party that can offer you assistance or repair the nas. You can try clicking on the work with another expert link below as many times as you want to go over as many experts that you need, but I think its unlikely that you would find someone with direct experience with this nas from this website.

Here is their tech support number just in case 1-800-237-0840

Is there any software that similar to hzd4b that will work with my hammer storage box and can run on windows 8.1

Hammer went out of business quite awhile ago. You would have to find the manufacture software for that particular unit which will be difficult given that the company is no longer in business.

How to switch modes on an coby mp3 player

What version of windows are you using? Some versions will mark it not the brand but as an extra storage device. For instance I have a Sansa Fuze windows xp marks as extra storage while my vista my win7 and win 8 say Sansa Fuze.... This is a common problem with windows though a lot of mp3 show as an extra storage instead of the brand and/or model. This also more so if the mp3 is actually a lot newer than you OS. So if you open my computer/computer and notice an extra storage device added then I would most like say it's your player. Just a thought you may want to make sure you have all updates for you pc and check to see if there is firmware for you mp3. These could also be why it is not showing as you brand and or unit. My Sansa c240 older mp3 use to show up on xp as extra storage until I got all the updates. If there is still the problem of it not showing up even as extra storage then contact the company about the issue.

1490t only shows splash screen

Either the firmware and/or map is corrupted. I repair this problem many times by flashing the unit with proprietary firmware that allows the unit to boot directly to mass storage mode, allowing access to the units files via a PC. I replace the damaged files, then reflash the unit with standard factory firmware.

I have a hzd4b with 4 1-tb drives all new. I try to connect to the box to initilize the system but cannot. I believe the firmware is loaded on the hard drives them selves like the buffalo nas solution. ...

petrykja,
I have the same issue as you. I bought an encloser to hold my drives (that i already owned). My firmware is showing 0.38 so I don't think the firmware is housed on the hard drive. However, when I try to upgrade the firmware it says that it can't find the drive to load from. So I think the firmware is first loaded to one of the drives and then to the motherboard. Not sure. Any luck with this wince December?

Firmware is showing. 0.0.38. Can not access drive

ariesat, I have the same problem. I dropped down to the older version of the PSM and I can see the enclosure. the firmware upgrade fails stating that there is no disk available. I believe there is some partitions that need to be on the disks to do the firmware upgrade. I havent found that answer yet. I will keep looking and will try to let you know if I find anything. Please let me know if you do the same. John

KD7A MB and USB problem

This sounds like a problem with the card in the camera, not the motherboard. Defective cards or unformatted drives behave this way. You might want to try Picasa for uploading, or insert the card in a card reader and see if you can access it that way. See your camera manual for instructions about formatting the card.
