I have replaced the main board in the back of our refrigerator twice and it is only four years old also. Today, the refrigerator is warm again. I hate to replace it for a third time, so I thought that I would check the internet to see if other people are having the same problem. I am not sure if a power surge, from losing our electricity, is causing the problem. We may look into another refrigerator because it gets expensive to throw away all of our food on top of replacing the main board!

I have the same problem...nothing chilling or freezing...

It was acting flaky after an electrical storm in the area and the power went out. When the power came back on, the compressor never started again. I unplugged it and plugged it in again after about 30 seconds, and it started working again. It worked OK for about 2 weeks, then went out again. I unplugged and re-plugged again and it ran for a few hours.

I just put in a new overload and new relay. It ran for a few hours, then quit again. It is only 5 years old. How much money do I need to spend on this thing? What else can I do? How do I get a new board? (Mine is not Stainless - it is white)

Freezer n refrigerator is warm at 78 degrees

If the compressor is running it either has broken valves or the refrigerant has leaked out. Without knowing more than the information you've provided I would start with the basics. Does the fridge have power? Can you hear both the condenser and evaporator fans running? Have you checked the coils under the fridge to see if they are clean?

If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

GE Profile Arctica model # PSS25NGMD - can't control temperature

Check the little damper door next the water filter at top inside the unit. You will have to remove the covers to get it. The little plastic ends will break off and then you can not control the temperture it act like a freezer. Hope this helps Also you can get this part online.

Does not stop cooling down

Door edges being warm is caused by what is called mullion heaters that operate to prevent humidity from condensing at these points.
Some refrigerators have an energy saver switch. Turn this switch if you have one to the energy saving position when the humidity is low. Is anything freezing in the refrigerator? If so setting the controls to a little higher setting may solve your problem.
