Question about Teac Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Cassette playback Got 3 cassette tapes from the early 90s from Ebay today. I am playing with with a cassette deck that is about 14 years old, but it still works. I have used it to play hundreds of cassettes to record them on the PC so I can transfer them to cds. I have one tape that seems to be wound very tight around the hubs. The playback is distorted, and it will lock down after a minute of playback. It doesn't appear damaged in anyway. Is there anything that can be done?

Hi, I am brand new to this site. So I may not be very good. However your prob sounds like one I had a few years back. I solved mine by using two pencils, one in each hub.
Then winding manually from one to the other. This is quite time consuming, but it worked for me. Hope this helps, if not, sorry for wasting your time.

How do you dub cassette to cassette

Hi
If you have a dual cassette deck, then one deck will only play cassettes, whilst the other will have a record facility as well.
Basically you need to place the original cassette in the play only deck and the target cassette in the record/play deck.
Start the playback in the play only deck and immediately press the record and play buttons together on the record deck. Some decks have high speed dubbing but this varies so much that you will need to consult your manual for this.
Cheers

Suggest having a good clean and replace belts. If it stops around halfway on a C90 or near the end then there's a load problem on the take up reel, before halfway the supply reel.

Putting a new playback head into an audio cassette deck.

Hi PATRICK

What happened when you used the head demagnetiser tape? Did chew out the head? If you can give me the model of the deck I can make some enquiries to help you sort it out.

Sounds like the tape tension sensor is stuck. The sensor is always telling the mechanism that the tape has reached the end.
