Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Canon MP530 grinding noise. Tried 2 solutions in this forum - didn't work. Noise happens when printer is idle, after printing. Print head (carriage?) tries to 'park' when noise happens.

Someone, somewhere, suggested removing the cartridges and then the printer head, putting them back, and unplugging and then rebooting the printer. I do believe this has solved my problem. I had been living with the horrid grinding sound for many months, and now it is gone. I am crossing my fingers that this will last, because otherwise it's been a great all-in-one.

Many people have that same problem. No one ever has a fix. I'll never buy Canon products again.

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA 530 grinds away

I had a persistant grinding noise about 30 seconds after the printer finished printing. It's been going on about 2 months. I did one thing which seemed to work. So try opening the cover on the back of the machine by lifting upward on the gray lever in the middle of the back of the machine. Leave this cover open during and after printing. The grinding noise went away.

SOURCE: when i try to print it sounds like gears are grinding,

Hi You can Try 2 things.
All the best.
ERROR 5100 means that there is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there

Next try.

It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage. Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now If that does not work then follow the next step.
Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.

Print heads go to left grind

The carriage sensor (usually a photocell arrangement) that senses the carriage position when at the end probably has dirt or has failed. It usually is a couple of small black fingers that a "vane" on the carriage goes between. If the vane is broken or the sensor broken the carriage will keep trying to move farther as it cues up. Once it has cued up itself, it counts pulses to the drive motor to keep track of where it is.

My canon pixma mp530 makes a loud noise most times when it powers up and when i print a document. It works OK otherwise.

My MP-530 would try to boot up making a noise like something slipping or grinding, ending with ERROR Code 5100.

Solution: Open the Lid. The drive belt was loose and not able to drive the carriage. There is a gear on the right side of the carriage and a pulley on the left side of the carriage. The spring which holds the pulley tight is missing or broken. I was not able to see the tension spring. To put tension on the pulley, to tighten the drive belt, I cut a Popsicle stick into a wedge and inserted it into the middle slot right of the pulley.
Close the lid and power back on. Runs like new. Hope this helps.

Canon mp830 errors 5110 and 6A00

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Canon MP530 Makes Grinding Noise when printing starts

I had this same problem and called tech support. Instead of sending a new printer they had me

1 remove print Cartridges
2 remove print head
3 replace print head
4 replace print Cartridges
5 unplug power from the wall

This seemed to fix the problem.....for me anyway.....for now.

hope it helps
